The shoulder joint orthosis 50A8 Omo Immobil Sling fixes the arm at the
body and immobilizes the shoulder joint in internal rotation.
50A9 Omo Immobil Sling, abduction
All indications requiring immobilization of the shoulder joint in 15° abduc-
tion, e.g. postoperative and posttraumatic immobilization and relief of the
shoulder joint (e.g. after rotator cuff surgery), immobilization after shoulder
luxation, soft-tissue injuries (e.g. contusions, bruises, distortions), irritations
in the region of shoulder and shoulder girdle (e.g. impingement syndrome,
chronic bursitis), shoulder instabilities, follow-up treatment of biceps ten-
don and muscle injuries.
The shoulder joint orthosis 50A9 Omo Immobil Sling, abduction – consisting
of shoulder joint orthosis 50A8 and anatomically shaped waist pad – allows
immobilization and relief of the shoulder joint in 15° abduction.
4 Relative Contraindications
In case of the following indications consultation with a physician is required:
Skin diseases/-injuries, inflammatory symptoms, prominent scars that are
swollen, reddened and feel excessively warm when touched; Lymphatic
flow disorders, including unclear soft tissue swelling distant to the body
area to which the appliance will be applied; Sensory and circulatory dis-
orders of the arm and hand.
5 Application of Product
The initial fitting and application of the 50A8 Omo Immobil Sling/50A9
Omo Immobil Sling, abduction must only be carried out by qualified per-
sonnel. The orthoses are delivered closed and ready for trial fitting. It can
be applied on the left as well as on the right side. In delivery condition the
orthosis is preset for the right arm.
50A8 Omo Immobil Sling:
Adaptation to the left body side:
Remove the ventral closure attached to the arm loop and fix it on the op-
posite side (mirror image) in same position.
Application of the orthosis:
1) Open the straps. Insert the arm into the loop and adapt the Velcro fa-
stener for upper arm and thumb (fig. 1).
