KIT PURPOSE

These kits are provided for installing the U-Joint Bel-
lows Kits, with new clamps, on the XDP, SX, and DP-S
Sterndrives as listed below.
CAUTION! Be sure to use new clamps pro-
vided in these kits; discard old clamps. Fail-
ure to use new clamps may cause damage to
the bellows, leading to component damage.

INSTALLING THE SX/DP-S U-JOINT BELLOWS KIT

This procedure requires that you remove the drive and the pivot housing 4. Remove pivot housing by removing
screws 3 only. When installing clamp 2, it must be oriented to the 2 O'Clock position A as viewed from the back
of the boat looking forward.Torque clamp to 40–66 in. lb. (4.5–7.5 Nm). When reinstalling the pivot housing, if
necessary, refer to the SX/DP-S Workshop Manual (PN 7743008) for additional information.
CAUTION! Ensure that forward end of bellows 5 is pushed completely onto flange and bead is en-
gaged in the groove around entire diameter of bellows. The hose clamp must sit squarely in the re-
cessed area of the bellows. Be sure to correctly position the clamps when installing them on the
bellows. Failure to correctly position the bellows and clamps will cause damage to the bellows, lead-
ing to component damage.
