- Apply the decals "D3" to the top surface of the wing.
Fig. 13
- Set the elevon servos 5 to neutral from the transmitter, cut down
the output arms as shown, and fit them on the output shafts as
a mirror-image pair.
- Fit the swivel pushrod connectors 7 on the underside of the
servo output arms and push the starlock washers 8 over the
pivot shafts to secure them; ensure that the connectors rotate
smoothly. You may need to drill out the linkage hole in the out-
put arms.
- Fit and tighten the servo output screws.
Fig. 14
- Position the servos over their recesses, and deploy the servo
leads in the channels, running them to the wing centre section.
Fig. 15
- Press the servos into the servo wells.
Fig. 16
- Glue the GRP horns 9 in the slots in the elevons.
Fig. 17
- Connect the pre-formed end of the pushrods 10 to the elevon
horns, and slip the plain end through the swivel pushrod con-
nectors mounted on the servos. Tighten the clamping screws in
the swivel connectors.
- Cut off the excess pushrod material; this is only necessary to
prevent them fouling the servo well covers.
- Secure the servos by applying a drop of epoxy to each servo
mounting lug.
- An alternative method of securing the servos is to use thin dou-
ble-sided tape.
Fig. 18
- Place the plastic covers 11 over the servo wells.

- Cut out the decals "D4" and stick them to the underside of the
wing, flush with both edges of the landing skid. These decals

also hold the servo well covers in place, and act as hinges if they
need to be opened.
Fig. 20
- Apply a strip of clear adhesive tape over the outside edge of
each servo well cover - see arrows.
Fig. 21
- Glue the recessed hand-grip 1 in place as shown.
- Glue the C.G. indicators 13 in place on both sides at the marked
points.
Fig. 22
This is the procedure for securing the nose fairing 4:
- Place the nose fairing in position and secure it with adhesive tape
- see arrows.
Advantage: if the model crashes, the nose fairing can move
slightly without the paint flaking off, as would happen if the fai-
ring were glued in place.
Fig. 23
- Apply a full-length strip of adhesive tape 14 (decal sheet) to the
elevon and wing, centred over the hinge pivot axis. Press the
tape down firmly.
Fig. 24
- Cut through the elevon along the marked lines at the tip and
inboard ends, cutting as far as the wedge-shaped recess on the
underside. Sand the cut faces smooth.
- Check that both elevons move smoothly up and down.
Fig. 25
- Apply the clear decal strips "D5" to the shoulder of the winglets.
Fig. 26
- Cut out the winglets 15 and sand the cut edges smooth. (Sport
Wings no. 381 and 383 only)
Fig. 27
- Trim the winglets 15 to fit neatly before gluing them to the wing.
You may prefer simply to tape the winglets in place (easier to
replace).

Completing the glider version
Fig. 28
- Place the Velcro dots 16 (loop) and 17 (hook) together, and stick the
dots 16 in the circular recesses in the RC compartment as shown.
Fig. 29
- Peel off the backing film from the Velcro dots 17, then place the
RC compartment cover 18 in position.
- Press down on the rear area of the cover in order to stick the
Velcro dots 17 to the inside of the cover 18.
Fig. 30
- Remove the cover again.
- Stick the Velcro patches 19 (loop) in the RC compartment as
shown.
- Stick the mating Velcro patches 0 (hook) to the receiver 1 and
the receiver battery .
Fig. 31
- Place the receiver and the receiver battery in the RC compart-
ment. Connect the servos to the receiver.
- The receiving system is switched on by connecting the receiver
battery to the receiver; a separate switch is not employed on this
model.
- When deploying the receiver aerial be sure to observe the
instructions supplied with your radio control system.
- If you are using a 35 MHz receiver, run the aerial along the under-
side of the wing and deploy it in the long channel.
Fig. 32
- The glider version is completed by fitting the radio compartment
cover; it can now be balanced as described on page 17 and as
shown in Fig. 51.
