INSTALLATION
Important safety instructions to be followed during
installation. Warning: incorrect installation may cause
serious damage or injury. Follow all the installation
instructions meticulously. Identify the correct point of
installation of MITO inside the property.
This is usually near to the support pillar on which the
gate slides. Build a solid base in cement to the size as
shown in figure 1, taking into account the sleeves "G" for
the passage of the power supply and control cables for
the system. Once set, position plate "Pb" on the cement
base according to the measurements shown in figure 2,
and mark the holes "A" in which the wall-plugs will be
fixed. Remove the plate "Pb" and drill the relative holes in
the cement into which the wall-plugs (not provided) with
M8 screws, will be fitted. Introduce the wall-plugs and
re-position the "Pb" plate.
Position the MITO gearmotor on the plate and fix together
with the wall-plug screws "V" using the relative washers
(figure 3). If the rack is already installed, ensure that the
pinion "P" engages in the rack for its entire width. Perform
the emergency or manual manoeuvre (see paragraph
'Emergency or manual manoeuvre') and place the gate in
its maximum opening position.
Place one of the extremities of the rack "C" on the pinion
"P" , and while keeping it in a horizontal position, start to
fix it by soldering or by using the appropriate "Vc" screws
(figure 4). Gradually move the gate forward as the rack is
being fixed and check that it does not force on the pinion
or move too far away from it. If the longitudinal axis of the
gate is not straight, shims must be placed between the
gate and the rack to guarantee that the pinion and the rack
are constantly centered. Once the rack "C" has been fixed
definitely, adjust the play-gap by approximately 2 mm
between the pinion and the rack by using the adjustment
dowels "Gr" (figure 3). Once the procedure is completed,
use once more the manual manoeuvre to open and close
the gate to ensure a correct alignment (there must be no
points of friction).
WARNING
The life of the pinion and the rack decisively depend on a
perfect alignment of the two.
The gate must be equipped with mechanical stoppers "Fa"
(figure 5) in both the opening and closing positions in order
to prevent the gate from derailing. Mechanical stoppers
"Fa" must guarantee an anti-crushing area between the
mobile and fixed parts of the gate.
Refer to the current regulations for the dimensions of
such areas. Manually place the gate in the open position,
and according to the gate weight, leave a space of 30-50
mm between the gate and the mechanical stopper "Fa"
(figure 5). Fit the limit switch brackets as shown in figure
6.
Introduce the magnets "M" into the brackets "Sf"
positioning them via the small sphere impressed on the
magnets as in figure 7.
Mount the assembled brackets to the rack "C" in the
required position and fix with the dowels "Gr1" . After
switching on the power supply, use the manual manoeuvre
to check that when the magnet levels with the gearmotor
pinion the led of the engaged limit switch turns off.
To identify the led, refer to the instruction manual of the
relative control unit installed.
If the opposite led lights up in relation to the engaged
limit switch, check that the magnets have been correctly
positioned as in figure 7, or alternatively, invert the limit
switch wires connecting the control unit.
After that, carry out the automatic manoeuvre, and if
necessary, carry out a micrometrical adjustment of the "Vf"
screw by unscrewing it and by moving the "Sf" bracket.
Connect the electrical wires as explained in the manual of
the electronic control unit and install the mandatory safety
devices.
Instruct all personnel operating the device how to use the
controls, the safety devices, the emergency manoeuvre and
about the dangers involved in the use of the automation
system.
Complete the technical booklet and fulfil any obligations
deriving from current regulations. The correct functioning
of the various versions of MITO is only and exclusively
guaranteed when equipped with DASPI safety devices and
only when combined with an original control boards.
TURNING OFF THE POWER SUPPLY
Turn the key "CH" clockwise, then extract the handle at
90° towards the operator (figure 8) and manually open the
gate. To re-establish normal functioning of the automation
unit, place the handle in its original position.
Store the key "CH" in a safe place only known to the
operators who use the automation unit. Switch on the
power supply and ensure that there are no persons in the
area in which the gate is moving.
