5.3 Commissioning

• Insert the suction hose (optional) connection into the connection opening
located at the front of the filter device.
• Connect the other end of the suction hose with, for example, the funnel nozzle
(optional). Connect the funnel nozzle to a suitable location (steel frames etc.)
using the magnetic foot and position the funnel nozzle above the welding
location at a spacing of around 15 cm.
• Ensure that all housing connections are tightened.
• Switch the filter unit to "Off" at the "I" / "0" / "Auto" switch.
• Connect the filter device to the power supply.
• Now switch the device on using the "I" / "0" / "Auto" switch. If "I" is selected the
turbines will start up directly, if "Auto" is selected they will start up after a
welding device impulse. The suction power can be regulated using the speed
controller so that the welding fumes are completely collected but the shielding
gas layer is not endangered.
• Always move the connected nozzles with respect to the weld position as you
advance.

5.4 Start-stop unit

The MiniFIl is fitted with a start-stop unit as described in Item 5.3. Please proceed as
follows to use this:
• Pull the flexible tongue (Fig. 4, Pos. 1) back far enough so that you can place
the welding device earthing cable between the support plate (Fig. 4, Pos. 2)
and the flexible tongue.
• Switch the MiniFil into automatic mode.
The MiniFil will automatically be started by the welding unit's current impulse and will
switch off once the welding process is complete after a run-on time of 10 seconds.
Since the start-stop unit only reacts to changes in the earthing cable current flow,
welding processes using direct current are often not detected. In this case it can be
helpful to route the earthing cable through the flexible tongue several times. If this
does not do the trick, the device must be switched on and off manually.
