9.3.2 Gasoline
Avoid high concentrates of alcohol-blended gasoline, and never use leaded gasoline in this
power unit. If you use an oxygenated gasoline, be sure it is unleaded and meets the
minimum octane rating requirement. Before using an oxygenated gasoline, try to confirm
the oxygenate contents. The following are the current United States Environmental
Protection Agency (EPA) approved percentages of oxygenates:
ETHANOL:
METHANOL:
NOTE: Check with your fuel supplier for information on any additional gasoline
regulations in your area.

9.3.3 High altitude operation

The standard fuel-air mixture is too rich for working at altitudes greater than 5,000 feet
(1500 meters). A very rich mixture will also foul the spark plug and cause hard starting.
Contact the Holmatro dealer to have the engine modified if the pump is to be always used at
altitudes greater than 5,000 feet (1500 meters). Even with carburetor modification, engine
horsepower will decrease about 3.5% for each 1,000 foot (300 meter) increase in altitude.
restored to its original factory specifications.

The DPU31and SPU16 engines should be operated
using unleaded gasoline as recommended in the

You may use gasoline containing up to 10% by volume. Gasoline
containing ethanol may be marketed under the name gasohol.
You may use gasoline containing up to 5% methanol by volume as long
as it also contains co-solvents and corrosion inhibitors to protect the fuel
system.
An engine modified for use above 5,000 feet
(1500 meters) may overheat if used at lower
altitudes, resulting in serious engine damage. For
use at low altitudes, have the modified engine
