power for methane = 8550 kcal/h).
You must prevent the burner from
continuing to run if the fl ow is greater
than the maximum permitted for the
boiler, to avoid possible damage to
the boiler itself, and so the burner
should be stopped straight after the
two meter readings.
13) To change the maximum gas
fl ow, use the air fl ow regulator,
because the gas fl ow automatically
adjusts to suit the air fl ow.
then necessary to use the MPA 22
keyboard to correct the maximum air
damper aperture (see instructions
on adjustment 0006080905). The
air damper opening angle must
be reduced to reduce the gas fl ow
and vice versa; to change the gas-
air mix see the instructions for the
pneumatic gas valves installed.
14) Subsequently check the combustion
with the special instruments. For
a correct air-gas mix you must
measure the carbon dioxide (CO2)
to methane value and check that it is
at least 8% or O2=6% with minimum
burner supply, up to an ideal value
of 10% or O2= 3% at maximum
supply. It is essential to check with
the correct instruments that the
percentage of carbon monoxide
CO present in the fumes does not
exceed the maximum permitted
value of 0.1 % (1000 p.p.m.)
15) After adjusting operation to the
maximum thermal capacity, the
air adjustment servomotor must
be
returned
to
the
supply position, using the MPA
22 keyboard (see instructions in
the manual cod.0006080905). If
with burner running at minimum
power, it is necessary to change the
combustion conditions, follow the
pneumatic gas valves adjustment
devices' instructions. We advise you
carry out a check on combustion
with the special instruments and,
if necessary, change the setting
previously carried out, even on some
intermediate points on the course
set for the air damper.
16)
Now
check
automatic
working of the modulation (see "MPA
22" electronic cam instructions in en-
closed manual code 0006080905).
In this mode the equipment receives
the signal from the electronic modu-
lation adjuster RWF 40, if the burner
is modulating version, or from the
thermostat or the pressure switch
second stage if the burner is pro-
gressive two stage.
17) The air pressure switch has the job
of bringing the control box to a safety
shut down if the air pressure is not
at the correct value. Therefore, the
air pressure switch must be regu-
lated in such a way as to intervene
by closing the contact (foreseen to
by closed while working) when the
air pressure in the burner has rea-
ched a suffi cient level. The pressure
switch is self-controlled and therefo-
re it must close the contact (fan stops
and consequently there is an absen-
ce of air pressure in the burner) if it
does not, the control box will be in-
It is
serted (the burner remains at a sta-
dstill). It must be specifi ed that if the
contact is not closed during working
(insuffi cient air pressure), the control
box will carry out its cycle, but the
ignition transformer will not be inser-
ted and the gas pilot valves will not
open. Consequently, the burner will
go to "shut down". Check that the
air pressure switch functions proper-
ly with burner at minimum delivery,
increase the regulating value until it
reaches intervention point and the
burner should go to shut down. To
unblock the burner, press the special
push-button and return the pressure
switch regulator to a suffi cient value
in order to measure the air pressu-
re existing during the pre-ventilation
phase.
18) The pressure switches which con-
trol the gas pressure (minimum and
maximum) have the job of stopping
the burner functioning when the gas
pressure is not within the values spe-
minimum
cifi ed. From the specifi c functions of
the pressure switches, it is evident
that the pressure switch controls the
minimum pressure must make use of
the contact, which is closed, when it
measures a pressure which exceeds
that at which it has been set. The ma-
ximum pressure switch must make
use of the contact, which is closed,
when it measures a pressure below
that at which it has been set. The mi-
nimum and maximum gas pressure
switches should be regulated during
the burner's general inspection and
mode
should be in function with the pres-
sure found each time. Theinterven-
tion (by this we mean the opening
of the circuit) of any one of the gas
pressure switches, will prevent the
control box and thus the burner from
starting up. When the burner is ope-
rating (fl ame lit), the intervention of
the gas pressure switches (opening
of the circuit) determines the imme-
diate arrest of the burner. During the
burner's general inspection, check
the correct functioning of the pres-
sure switches. By operating the re-

detector (ionisation electrode) by
detaching the wire coming from the
electrode and by turning on the bur-
ner. The control box should carry out
completely its cycle and two secon-

ce correctly because if the mixer
is forward it may happen that the
speed of the delivery air is so high
that ignition becomes diffi cult. If this
happens the mixer must be moved
back by degrees until it is in a po-
sition at which ignition takes place
normally, at which point this can be
taken as the fi nal position.
We remind you that it is advisable, as
regards the ignition fl ame, to restrict
the quantity of air to the minimum
necessary for safe ignition, even in
the most diffi cult cases.
