● Select [DOWN] for acknowledgeable (ACK)
4. Confirm with [OK]

12.4 Testing alarms/relays

These functions change the status of a relay and LED for test
purposes (e.g. to check the function of alarm devices
connected to the relay). After exiting this function, the status
of the relay and LED will automatically return to their previous
status.
1. Select the desired alarm condition.
A1 - test
Simulates pre-alarm
A2 - test
Simulates main alarm
FAIL - test
Simulates fault signal
 The display toggles between the current value and the
menu item.
2. Tap [OK]
 The value flashes (data entry mode)
3. Set the test alarm.
● Tap [UP] to activate the test alarm (ON).
● Tap [DOWN] to deactivate the test alarm (OFF).
4. Tapping [OK] deactivates the test alarm and the
instrument returns to the menu.

12.5 Configuring the password

Only numbers 0 to 9 are allowed for the password.
1. Select PASS set and tap [OK]
 The 4-digit LCD will then show '0000', with the first
zero on the left flashing.
2. Tap [UP] / [DOWN] to increment or decrement this digit,
then tap [OK].
 The second digit will flash.

3. Repeat the process for the other digits and tap [OK]
The value is set and the instrument returns to the menu.

12.6 Switching the Display (LCD) On/Off

This feature allows turning the LCD off in normal operation,
effectively turning the Polytron 5000 into a non-display
instrument.
The functionality of the instrument remains active,
independently of the LCD state.
In case of an alarm when the LCD display is off, the red LED
will flash and the LCD display will automatically switch on and
show the current gas concentration.
In case of a fault, the yellow LED and the LCD display will
switch on and the display will toggle between 'Err' and a
specific number.
To set the display (LCD) on/off
1. Enter the menu.
● If the LCD is off, Tap [down].
2. Select LCD
 The display toggles between the current value and the
menu item.
3. Tap [OK]
 The value flashes (data entry mode)
4. Set the display status.
● Select [UP] to activate the display (ON)
● Select [DOWN] to deactivate the display (OFF)
5. Confirm with [OK] and exit the menu.

12.7 Setting 2-wire/3-wire configuration

This point is only valid for Polytron
®
Polytron
5100 EC can be operated in a 2-wire and 3-wire
configuration.
This function changes the operation mode disabling options
which are too power consuming.
In 2-wire mode, the instrument does not offer the options:
– current source
– back-lit display
– remote sensor (unless operated at 24V or higher)
– relays
– LEDs
CAUTION
Transmitter malfunction
► It must be ensured that the setting of this function matches
the wiring for power and signal.
► After changing the configuration and returning to normal
operation, the power to the instrument must be cycled.
To set the wire configuration
1. Select Set 2-3
 The display toggles between the current value and the
menu item.
