Safety warnings for
Band Saws
Before Operating the Saw
CAUTION
• The user shall be trained by a qualified
person familiar with the use of the equipment ant its
functioning.
• Do not use the equipment if having trouble to make any
type of operation. Contact immediately your supervisor,
instructor or service center.
• Before connecting and disconnecting the equipment the
power switch shall be OFF (see page 10 Turning on).
CAUTION
• Verify the band saw is properly
mounted before connecting the equipment.
• Double check the band is honed, in good repair, with the
right tension and alignment, free of oxide and tar.
• Before starting the equipment verify the cutting band is
not making contact with the work piece.
• Close and secure both flywheels' cabinets.
• All the parts shall be properly installed.
• Adjust the upper cutting guide so it will be set 5/32" over
the work piece.
While Operating the Saw
WARNING
• Always keep hands away from the
cutting band.
WARNING
• Never make any operation hands-free.
Use the support fence and the miter gauge as indicated in
this Manual. To control small pieces, use poles and / or
pushing blocks with the specifications shown in figure A.
CAUTION
• The work piece feed direction shall
always be against the band teeth and with a moderate and
constant speed.
• The work pieces shall have flat faces. Never work on
warped or twisted wood or round shaped.
WARNING
• Avoid footing or movements causing
your hands or body move towards the moving band.
• Turn it off and wait for the cutting band to stop completely
before removing remaining pieces on the table.
• When a work piece needs more than one cut turn off the
machine and wait until the cutting band stops completely
before setting the piece for the subsequent cut.
• When making angle cuts with the miter guide, remove the
support fence away from the work piece trajectory.
• When making long curve cuts make support cuts
previously to the final cut.

Kickback
• Avoid having a kickback (when the work piece is shot
against the operator). Keep the band honed, tight and
perfectly aligned; the support fence parallel to the band and
the cutting guide adjusted at 5/32" away from the work
piece. Do not let go the work piece until it goes though the
cutting band.
• Do not cut across the grain with twisted or curved or if with
no right edge which prevents to guide it along the guide.
• Double check not to cut wood with nails or screws.
Additional Caution Measures
• When adjusting, replacing or manipulating the cutting
band use safety gloves to prevent injuries.
• The machine shall only be operated by experienced
people knowable of its use or properly trained.
• Wear an anti-dust mask and connect the machine
to a dust collector with an air flow suitable for
hazardous dust extraction.
• Wear hearing protectors.
• The machine while running can shoot debris into the
operator's eyes causing severe or permanent injuries. Wear
always safety eyeglasses complying with Standard ANSI
Z87.1.
• Never try to remove splinters while the band is moving
and the equipment is on.
WARNING
• Never try to stop the cutting band
when the band saw is running.
• Never stand on the machine.
WARNING
• DO NOT ASSEMBLY the equipment
until double checking it is not connected and the power
switch is in the OFF position (see page 10 Turning on).
WARNING
• DO NOT CONNECT the equipment to
the power source until it is completely assembled and the
operator read and understood the entire Manual.
• When working large work pieces overhanging the work
table use adequate supports to keep control on the work
piece.
• In order to carry out good maintenance there shall be
enough space around the machine.
• Work in a well ventilated area and remove saw dust
frequently.
• Release tension in the band when the saw is not being
used for long periods of time.
Unpacking
• Remove the packing material from the machine and fix it
onto its base before operating.
CAUTION
• Keep 32" free space around the machine
to give space to the job. When working long work pieces
there shall be enough space in front and rear of the
machine to be able to comfortably take in or out the work
piece.
