Defender Visor Adjustment

The Defender visor must be stowed securely inside the fire helmet when an SCBA facepiece is used.

Traditional and NFPA-compliant Bourke Lenses Adjustment

Traditional Bourke lenses are for cosmetic purposes only and do not provide eye or face protection.
Traditional Bourke lenses are not certified to ANSI or NFPA standards.
NFPA-compliant Bourke lenses are marked on the right lens with NFPA certification information, as
well as the certifying body mark.
Failure to use adequate eye protection can result in serious personal injury or death.

Doffing the Fire Helmet

Remove the protective cover from the lens.
To raise or lower the faceshield, loosen the knobs on both sides of the faceshield brackets.
Adjust the faceshield.
Tighten the knobs on both sides of the faceshield brackets.
CAUTION!
WARNING!
Loosen and release the chinstrap.
While holding the fire helmet, turn the ratchet knob counterclockwise to loosen the headband.
Remove the fire helmet.
The Defender visor stays locked inside the fire helmet until eye
protection is necessary.
To lower the Defender visor, grasp the handles on either side
of the lens, then pull down and back.
To raise the Defender visor, grasp the handles on either side of
the lens, then push forward and up until the visor locks into
position.

Remove the protective cover from the lens.
(2)
To lower or raise the Bourke lens, grasp the edge of either
lens and move it toward or away from the face, as applicable.
