SETTING THE PRESET/ABS FUNCTION

1. Move the slide to the preset position. This can be done
using a master part or gage blocks. Care should be
taken at this point to ensure that the slide is at the
actual preset position. The slide should be locked to
prevent any mo-tion when buttons are pressed.
Press and hold the ZERO/ABS button until the ABS

icon appears on the Display, Fig. 5.
3. The preset values can be set to:
±99.9999 inches or ±9999.99 mm
4. Press the SHIFT/SET button followed by the PRESET
button. The SET and PRESET icons will appear on the
Display. The PRESET icon should be flashing Fig.6.
5. To move from the PRESET icon to the plus/minus sign, press the SHIFT/SET
button. The flashing, indicates that the sign is ready to be changed. To change the
sign press the PRESET button.
6. To move to the next digit, press the
SHIFT/SET button.
7. Fig.7, to increment the value of a digit
press the PRESET button.
8. Repeat steps 4, 5 and 6 until all the digits
are set to the way you want.
9. To exit the PRESET function and
establish this reading as the actual
position of the slide, press the SHIFT/
SET button until the PRESET icon is
flashing. Make sure the slide is held
properly in positioned, and then press
the PRESET button. This will record
the current position of the slide as the
PRESET position.
10. To exit PRESET mode press and hold the ZERO/ABS button. The preset position will
be remembered by the tool even if you exit ABS mode.
11. To return to ABS mode, press and hold the ZERO/ABS button until the ABS icon is
lit and the measurement shown will be relative to where you set the preset value.
