Chassis
The radio chassis is held firmly to the housing by
tension tabs outside and beneath the battery tray. A
special chassis extraction tool releases the tabs and
provides a platform to push the chassis out of the
housing.
To Remove Chassis:
1. Remove battery cover.
2. Remove battery.
3. Remove battery tray.
To avoid damage, use chassis extraction

tool to remove chassis. DO NOT push on
the main board. DO NOT pull by the
C a u t i o n
antenna. DO NOT push on speaker.
4. Insert chassis extraction tool so tool tabs align
with chassis tabs (Figure 3-8).
5. Push tool toward top of housing until it stops.
6. Remove chassis extraction tool.

Exercise care when removing chassis.
C a u t i o n
7. Grasp chassis by top panel and firmly but gently
pull chassis out of housing.

To Install Chassis:
1. Align sides of main board with rails in housing
(Figure 3-9).

To avoid damage, DO NOT press PTT or
Monitor button while inserting chassis.
C a u t i o n
2. Slide chassis into housing until speaker meets
the housing.
3. Guide bottom edge of speaker past protective
felt in housing.
4. Press firmly on antenna end of chassis until
chassis is securely seated ("clicks" into place).
Control Top
1. Remove ON-OFF/VOL knob.
2. Remove chassis.

The speaker and microphone wires prevent
complete removal of the control top.
C a u t i o n
3. Remove speaker plug from main board speaker
jack (Figure 3-10).
4. Remove microphone plug from main board
microphone jack (Figure 3-10).
