Insertion depth

The insertion depth of a temperature sensor can affect the accuracy of measurements:
Improper sensor installation can result in measurement errors due to heat dissipation from the
process connection and the tube or tank wall. (The size of the error depends on ambient
conditions at the measuring point.)

Insufficient mounting diameter

For pipes with very small nominal diameters, an oblique insertion or insertion in an elbow pipe is
recommended; whereby the thermowell tip must be positioned against the flow of the medium.
