SETTING THE PARAMETERS

Setting the charge current

The software features a special integral function which automatically adjusts the charge
current according to the voltage level of the power source (car battery). The advantage of
this feature is that the unit continues to charge even when the car battery's voltage is dec-
lining, i.e. it avoids a low-voltage termination. This reduces the load on the voltage con-
verter, and the charger works with better efficiency.
How it works:
If the input voltage falls below 11 Volts, the set charge current is reduced by 1 A. This may
occur several times until the charge current falls to only 1 Amp. It is not possible to increa-
se the reduced charge current again. The only means of resetting this function is to dis-
connect the charger from the power source.

Setting the discharge current

Note:
The charge or discharge current can also be varied during the charge or discharge pro-
cess.

Selecting the battery type

Move to the menu point 'NiCd BATTERY / NiMH BATTERY / Li-BAT' using the 'SELECT'
button. Select the appropriate battery type using the 'INC / DEC' buttons.
Operating instructions
Use the 'SELECT' button to leaf through in the
menu until the menu point 'SET CHA.' appears.
The charge current is set in this menu using the
'INC' button
'INC / DEC' buttons. The charge current can be
increased or reduced in 0.1 A increments.
Please be sure to observe the information supplied
by the battery manufacturer. Note that the charge
'DEC' button
power is limited by the system's capacity; if neces-
sary, the processor automatically reduces the
charge current to avoid overloading the charger.
Use the 'SELECT' button to leaf through in the
menu until the menu point 'SET DIS.' appears. The
discharge current is set in this menu using the 'INC
'INC' button
/ DEC' buttons. The discharge current can be
increased or reduced in 0.1 A increments. Please
be sure to observe the information supplied by the
battery manufacturer. Note that the discharge
'DEC' button
power is limited by the system's capacity; if neces-
sary, the processor automatically reduces the
discharge current to avoid overloading the charger.
