LEICA CF 22 flash unit system and congratu-
late on your choice. By buying this flash unit,
you have made the best choice for your Leica
camera. We wish you a lot of enjoyment and
success with your new flash unit.
In order to fully exploit the potential of your
LEICA CF 22, you should first read this manual.

Suitable cameras

The LEICA CF 22 has been especially devel-
oped for the LEICA D-LUX 4 that automatically
adjusts the flash exposure by means of the
guide number. However, it can also be used on
the LEICA V–LUX 1 and the LEICA DIGILUX 3,
as well as on some models from other manu-
facturers (Olympus /Panasonic), provided
these have the same interface / the same
design of accessory shoe.
The use of the LEICA CF 22 can only be recom-
mended with reservations on cameras from
other manufacturers. Thus contacts in the ac-
cessory shoes of other cameras that are simi-
larly positioned but have differing electrical
values can result in incompatible connections
that adversely affect the performance of one
or even both devices.
Leica therefore excludes any additional liabili-
ty, especially for damages that do not occur on
the flash unit itself.
Notes:
• Please note that all descriptions in this man-
ual relate to the LEICA D-LUX 4. Information
on operation when using other cameras can
be obtained from the respective user
manuals.
• This manual only deals with the functions of
the LEICA D-LUX 4 and there are differences
in operation with the LEICA CF 22 compared
with the use of the camera's own, integrated
flash unit.
