High-level disinfection of the prismatic tube with sapphire
glass
The complete process for high-level disinfection (HLD) is as follows –
assuming the CIDEX
your dealer:
A HLD set to support the HLD processes can be ordered from Dentsply
Sirona with REF 63 46 907.
1. Remove the camera support (if present).
2. Carry out a preliminary cleaning process (see "Pre-cleaning of the
prismatic tube  [→ 22]").
3. Always use personal protective equipment when implementing the
high-level disinfection if not before.
4. Remove the prismatic tube from the CEREC Bluecam (see
"Removing the prismatic tube  [→ 22]").
5. Place the protective cap on the camera head and place the camera
in the camera storage unit.
6. Use the following disinfectants for the high-level disinfection:

CIDEX
OPA.
CAUTION
Observe the safety instructions from the disinfectant manufacturer.
7. Carefully fill the HLD container up to the 40 ml mark ("Bluecam"
mark). A funnel can be used to help pour in the liquid. Do not spill
the disinfectant. Should you spill any disinfectant, follow the safety
instructions from the disinfectant manufacturer.
NOTE
Only place the prismatic tube into the container and not the entire
camera.
Ensure that the prismatic tube is placed upright in the disinfectant
(with the prism facing down) so that the solution cannot penetrate the
inside of the prismatic tube.
8. Insert the prismatic tube in the correct position (with the prism
facing down).
9. Place the cover on the container and leave the prismatic tube in the
disinfectant for at least 12 minutes (CIDEX
tube will not be damaged if it remains in the disinfectant for longer
than the required time, but removing the prismatic tube shortly after
the required time is recommended.
10. Remove the prismatic tube from the container.
11. Carefully rinse the prismatic tube with tap water for at least 30
seconds. Ensure that no water is able to penetrate into the interior
of the prismatic tube.
12. Wipe down the prismatic tube. Use cotton wool gauze to do so,
moistened with tap water.
13. Dry the prismatic tube using a soft, lint-free cloth.
14. Store the prismatic tube in such a way that it is protected from
contamination until the next use.
15. Remove the protective cap from the camera head before use.
