pool and commence welding according to rules set out
beforehand. T o stop welding release the torch button so
that current gradually decreases (if the down-slope time
has been set) or so that arc is immediately extinct relative to
POSTGAS time.
- If difficult welds are to be performed and the welding
parameters are unknown, it is advisable to carry out
several trial runs on test pieces in order to determine the
exact welding current value and the most correct quantity
of gas. Remember that too much gas may be detrimental
to the correct execution of the joint.
- Should it be difficult to strike the arc despite the presence of
gas and the visible HF discharges, do not leave the
electrode under HF. Check the shape of the electrode and
grind if necessary.
STICK ELECTRODE WELDING (MMA)
When using stick electrodes remember that most electrodes
are to be connected to the positive pole (+). Welding
polarities are thus inverted in comparison with TIG welding.
In both cases it is useful to refer to the electrode
characteristics as indicated on the electrode packaging.
- Turn off gas cylinder valve
- Substitute TIG torch with cable and collet making sure
polarities are correct (A) = (-); (B) = (+)

- Potentiometer ''Balance'' (R) = in position ''O''
- Main switch (I) in 'ON' - green led (R) ''ON''
N.B. Welding circuit (collet and work cable) will
immediately be under voltage
Strike the arc and commence welding as usual. Regulate
welding current, potentiometer (L), according to diameter,
electrode type and joint to be welded.
MAINTENANCE
WARNING !
NEVER REMOVE PANELS OR OPERATE WITHIN THE
UNIT WITHOUT DISCONNECTING THE MAIN POWER
SUPPLY . CHECKING OPERATIONS WITHIN THE UNIT
WHILE STILL UNDER VOLT AGE MAY CAUSE SERIOUS
ELECTRICAL SHOCKS BECAUSE OF POSSIBLE DIRECT
CONTACT WITH LIVE PARTS
- Regularly inspect machine according to frequency of use
and dustiness of work area. When removing dust from
transformer, choke tap and rectifier always use dry
compressed air at a pressure of not more than 10 bars.
- Be careful not to direct jet of compressed air towards
control modules. These may be cleaned with a soft brush or
the appropriate solvents.
- At the same time verify that electric connections are tight
and check wiring for insulation failure.
- When check is over reassemble panels tightening the
fixing screws well.
- Under no circumstances carry out welding operations
while the machine is still open.
- TORCH
- Avoid leaning torch and torch cable on hot parts : this may
cause melting of insulating materials and torch will
immediately be out of use.
- Periodically check the seals of all tubing including gas
connections.
- Accurately pair collet and collet body with the selected
electrode diameter in order to avoid overheating, bad gas
diffusion and poor performance.
(direct current welding)
TROUBLESHOOTING
IN CASE OF UNSATISF ACTORY FUNCTIONING, BEFORE
SERVICING MACHINE OR REQUESTING ASSIST ANCE,
CARRY OUT THE FOLLOWING CHECK:
- Switches and selectors must be correctly set according to
the type of welding (TIG or electrode) and following the
aforementioned instructions.
- When mains switch is "ON" green led (S) must be lit,
otherwise there may be a fault on the supply line (cables,
sockets/plugs, fuses etc.)
- Yellow led (G) that signals thermal switch interruption must
be turned off (automatic reset). Interruption is usually
caused by incorrect intermittance ratio.
- Welding circuit connections must be correct. Check that
work cable collet is connected to the workpiece correctly
and that there are no insulating materials in between (e.g.
varnish etc.)
- Protective gas must be of appropriate type and quantity
(e.g. Argon 99.9%).
- All leds on control module must be accordingly set:
