To reduce the risks associated with chemical exposure, impact, crush, tipping
hazards, property damage from product loss, bypass or cross contamination due to
pressure barrier failure, connector failure, purifi cation media or capsule failure:
• Use the installation procedure specifi ed in Operation Instructions.
• Follow the installation and operation manual and inspect the o-rings.
• Hardware Qualifi cation testing is recommended prior to use.
• Wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to prevent chemical splash.
• After pre-use NaOH sanitization, fl ush the system with appropriate aqueous buff er
until the pH range of 5 to 9 has been attained and monitor the pH of the capsule
effl uent to determine when the baseline has been reached (e.g., ± 0.5 pH units from
the pH of the buff er used to fl ush the media).
• Capsules are designed for single use only. Do not reuse.
• Do not modify or alter the capsules, manifolds and holders.
• Do not put this product into service if any damage is occurred to the capsule or any
of the connecting parts.
• Do not install where fl uid pressure exceeds 3.4 bar (50 psig).
• Do not use in organic solvent based processing.
• Use only with aqueous based process fl uids in the pH range of 5 to 9.
• Use only alkaline resistant capsule and manifold sets.
• Do not use with or expose this product to hot liquids >40°C (104°F).
• Perform all required maintenance on or before its scheduled date and always use
specifi ed replacement parts in the Service & Maintenance Details.
• Do not use the product on unleveled surfaces.
• Do not use the product for more than 8 hours.
• Do not use this product for continuous service with compressed gasses. Use of
compressed gas is permissible for post-use integrity testing and blow-down purposes
only. Limit post-use integrity test and blow-down gas pressures to less than 1.4 bar
(20 psig) and temperature less than 25°C for no longer than 30 minutes.
• Do not hang other items on this product.
• Do not gamma or ethylene oxide sterilize the capsules.
• Do not steam-in-place sterilize the capsules.
• Only expose the capsule to 1 sterilization or 1 sanitization cycle prior to use.
• Do not autoclave and base sanitize the same capsule prior to use.
• Do not autoclave or base sanitize polycarbonate based capsules and manifolds
with the following part numbers BV800 (EMP710AEX020A) and BV5600
(EMP770AEX020A).
• During pre-use autoclave sterilization do not exceed a temperature of 121°C or a
duration longer than 30 minutes for BV800R (EMP710AEX020R), and 40 minutes for
BV5600R (EMP770AEX020R).
• Do not use with or expose this product to process liquids until capsule temperature
goes <40°C (104°F).
• Only use NaOH as sanitizing chemical and do not exceed 1M NaOH concentration or
1-hour duration for sanitization.
