Validity
This additional installation, operation and maintenance
manual is valid for Roller table motors (M3RP 180 to
450) and is to be read together with the general manual
(Low Voltage Motors/Manual). Additional information may
be required for some machines due to special application
and/or design considerations.
Use
Electric supply
Machine series M3RP is designed for frequency
converter supply. It is not suitable for direct network
supply.

Maintenance and lubrication

Lubrication
All M3RP roller table motors (frames 180-450) are fitted
with grease nipples as standard. Lubricate the motor
while running.
Open closing valve on bearing cover, leave it temporarily
open when lubricating, or permanently with automatic
lubrication. If the motor is fitted with a lubrication
information plate, follow the values given; typically,
roller table motors have an information plate
If not, use values as follows:
Lubrication intervals for ball bearings (horizontal
motors)
Lubrication intervals in duty hours

NOTE
Lubrication intervals for roller bearings or
vertical motors are half the values shown above.
The values in the above table are based on 100°C
bearing temperature and must be halved for every 15 K
rise in bearing temperature. If the bearing temperature
does not exceed 85°C , the values in the table can be
doubled.
WARNING
The maximum operating temperature
of the grease must not be exceeded.

Lubricants
When re-greasing, use only special ball bearing grease
with the following properties:
- good quality lithium base or lithium complex grease
- base oil viscosity 100 -140 cST at 40°C.
- consistency NLGI grade 2 or 3
- temperature range –30 - +120°C, continuously
For slowly rotating and/or higly loaded bearings,
Ep greases are recommended.
Lubrication of motors at standstill
Bearings should normally be lubricated when the motor is
running, but if that is not possible, the following procedure
should be used:
1) If grease outlet plug is fitted, remove it when
lubricating.
2) When the motor is fitted with a lubrication information
plate, follow the given values. Otherwise use the
lubrication intervals and lubricant amounts given in the
table earlier in this document.
3) Inject about half of the recommended amount of fresh
grease through the grease nipple.
4) Run the motor at full speed for about five minutes.
5) Stop the motor and repeat lubrication as in the point 3.
Always continue until fresh grease comes out through
the grease outlet plug.
6) If grease outlet plugs are in use, close them after
lubrication.
NOTE
If the entire amount of grease is injected at once
with the motor stationary, there is a risk that some
of the grease will force its way past the inner
bearing seal and into the motor.
