Setting a dialing prefix

Dial-tone detection controls whether or not the fax accessory must
detect a dial-tone before sending a fax. By default, dial-tone detection is
on.
To set dial-tone detection

On the control panel, press the menu button to access the main
menu.

Select CONFIGURE DEVICE.

Select the FAX menu.

Select FAX SEND.

Select DETECT DIAL TONE.

Select ON or OFF.
You can set up a dialing prefix to use for all outgoing faxes. You might
need to use a prefix for sending faxes from a PBX system or for a phone
billing number.
To set a dialing prefix

On the control panel, press the menu button to access the main
menu.

Select CONFIGURE DEVICE.

Select the FAX menu.

Select FAX SEND.

Select DIAL PREFIX.

Set DIAL PREFIX to YES.

Select PREFIX.

Type the dialing prefix to use for outgoing faxes.
Depending on the mfp, either the comma (,) button or the pause button is
used to insert a pause. ("Control panel methods" on page 12 provides a
figure of each type of interface.)
