Description:
This fall arrester is a compact retractable type fall arrester in
compliance with norm EN360 whose configuration is
described in the table shown on page 1 on the line
corresponding to the reference for your model.
This device is intended to arrest the accidental fall of an
individual thanks to its instantaneous blocking function. It is
equipped with an energy dissipation system that confers a
great amount of safety as well a comfort during utilization.
This fall arrester is made up of
• A housing that protects the mechanism.
• An orifice for buckling and anchoring.
• A retractable lanyard automatically equipped with an
automatic locking function EN362.
• An identification card that also serves as a warning
reminder for the use of the device.
The NS6SAN fall arrester can be delivered as an option
without an automatic snap hook and in this case the user
should add a swivel connector to the end of the lanyard in
compliance with norm EN 362.
This fall arrester allows an individual to work in complete
safety for all types of activities at heights on framing,
scaffolding... each time the risk of a fall is present.
It supports a load of 136 kg maximum and the
resistance to breakage of the mechanism is
greater than 1200 daN.
Warning :
- Medical Conditions.
Given the fall hazards associated with work at height, it is
necessary to remind that only people in good health and
physical condition can participate. Work at height requires
concentration, thus are excluded people subject to vertigo,
agoraphobia, under medication including tranquillisers, or
under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
If any doubt, consult your GP before working on height.
In the event of a fall, it is important to keep your self-control,
not to panic so as to limit as much as possible harmful issues,
and to avoid further accident.
- Training and competence.
This device must be used by a competent and trained person,
or under the direct visual control of a competent person aware
and capable to take care of the user's safety.
It is compulsory to know and follow the
instructions of this manual.
- Rescue plan.
Before operation, a rescue plan must be in place in case of
emergency. A person subject to fall hazards must not remain
alone. People around must be able to rescue him without
delay and without further accident. It is recommended to have
GB
an extra fall arrester in perfect serviceable condition in case of
emergency.
Use of the equipment :
The device must be used for the only purpose it is intended
for. It is forbidden to modify it or use it for any other purpose.
This device is personal equipment. It is limited to one person
and must be individually assigned so as to ensure good care
is taken of it.
It is compulsory to check the suitability of the associated items
that make the safety fall arrest system: full body harness,
connectors...
Only items complying with European standards can be used.
Beware of any incompatibility between different components
which could be dangerous for the user. Be particularly
cautious when any components in the system are not totally
rigid, because the locked mechanism can be unlocked by a
bounce.
Before each use make a visual inspection of all the
components of the fall arrest system : fall arrester, webbing,
connectors, full body harness.
• Condition of the anchoring ring.
• Condition of the housing and its assembly: no deformations,
no cracks, no traces of major impacts, screw tightened.
• Condition of the lanyard: no sign of nicks or
fraying, no traces of chemical damage, no
deformation.
• Condition of the automatic connector: verify its
proper locking and the absence of
deformation.
• Condition of the fall indicator if it is present on the device
(located according to the table page 1 and condition
according to the diagram at the end of the notice)
• The date of validity of the device should also be verified.
The last inspection should be dated less than
one year.
Before each use verify the locking function by
jerking on the lanyard. The fall arrester should
block the lanyard and prevent it from unwinding.
On the other hand, by pulling slowly and steadily
on the lanyard, it should unwind normally and
rewind itself.
WARNING: You should never release the
lanyard of the connector to rewind the lanyard
but hold it until fully rewound.
Upon noting the slightest defect in the condition
or functioning or if there is any doubt, do not use
the device but return it to the manufacturer or
send it to an approved center for its inspection or repair.
When the device has stopped a fall, its inspection is required.
In all these cases, the fall arrester should be withdrawn from
circulation and not used again until a competent person has
authorized its reuse in writing.
Anchoring Device
Verify before use that the anchoring of the fall arrester is
correct.
The structure to which the fall arrester is hooked, as well as
the elements used for the anchoring, should be approved and
have a resistance of at least 10 kN.
The anchoring point should be located above the user for use
exclusively vertically. The fall arresters, whose reference
carries the suffix "HO" can be used horizontally,
see the notice annexed "Horizontal Utilization".
The fall arrester should only be hooked to the
anchoring orifice. Only elements in compliance
with the norms EN362 and EN795 can be used
(connectors, lanyards, towing chains...).
The fall arrester should not in any case, bear on
an element of the structure; it should be in the
alignment of the anchoring and the anchoring
point on the user's harness.
The fall arrester is provided to be used with a fall
arrester harness as the sole means of stopping
an individual. You should ensure that this
harness is in compliance with norm EN 361, that
