Work performed incorrectly may lead to severe accidents.
Work at the steering system may only be performed by trained expert staff. Even minor contamination
may lead to a steering support failure.
 Ensure absolute cleanliness when performing work at the hydraulic steering system.
 Replace self-locking screws, self-locking nuts, seals, and locking elements with new parts.
 Tighten all screw connections with the prescribed tightening torque. Follow the instructions issued by
the vehicle manufacturer.
 Check the entire steering system and the mechanical connecting parts for damage when replacing
parts of the steering system - especially after an accident. Repair or replace the following parts if da-
maged:

Use type-specific, fresh hydraulic oil only. Follow the instructions issued by the vehicle manufacturer.
Dispose of used hydraulic oil in an appropriate manner.
WARNING
Risk of poisoning!
Risk of severe injury through inhalation of fumes and ingestion of liquids.
Leaking liquids may ignite at hot parts.
 Wear personal protective equipment.
 Avoid contact with the skin and eyes.
 Avoid fire and flying sparks. Do not smoke.
Clean all steering system components thoroughly before uninstalling the hydraulic cylinder.
After uninstalling the hydraulic cylinder, rinse the steering system. Observe the information "Rinsing and
ventilating the steering system".
Installing the hydraulic cylinder
1. Install hydraulic cylinder.
2. Tighten all screw connections with the prescribed tightening torque.
3. Fill in hydraulic fluid.
4. Vent hydraulic cylinder and adjust, if required.
Follow the instructions issued by the vehicle manufacturer.
5. Perform a leak test of the hydraulic system.
6. Perform measurements of the vehicle geometry.
