Caution: If the core bit does not rotate
in the direction indicated by the arrow
on the gearing section (clockwise
direction), the motor must be switched
off immediately and the direction of
rotation changed by using a screw-
driver to adjust the phase changer in
the mains plug. Failure to observe this
point may cause personal injury and
damage to the machine! No load
should be applied to the core bit as
the motor is switched on. Frequent
switching on while a load is applied
can damage the slip clutch and may
cause the mains fuse to trip.

1. Chuck
2. Core bit
3. Locking sleeve
Hold the core bit before disengaging
the chuck.
When releasing the core bit, ensure
that the core does not fall out acciden-
tally.
After overhead drilling, drain the core
bit through the water supply hose
before releasing it from the chuck.

2. Water collector holder
3. Water collector
4. Clamping screws
Use the core bit to centre the water
collector and then tighten the clam-
ping screws evenly.
9.17 Operation
1. Select the correct drilling speed.
(Change speed only when rotation
has stopped.)
2. Release the feed movement locking
mechanism.
3. Guide the core bit into the water
collector.
4. Open the water supply valve.
5. Switch on the motor.
6. Begin drilling carefully. Increase
pressure slightly as soon as the
core bit begins to grip.

9.18 Notes on operation
If the overheating warning lamp lights,
this indicates that the temperature of
the motor unit has exceeded the nor-
mal operating range. The overheating
cut-out will be activated if the load on
the motor is maintained. This function
is designed to prevent damage to the
motor unit. The indicator lamp will go
out after the motor unit has been allo-
wed to cool. Drilling work can then
continue.
Particularly when large-diameter core
bits are used, avoid applying excessi-
ve drilling pressure through the reduc-
tion gearing system of the feed unit.
This may cause the motor to stall and
can be responsible for a high rate of
wear of the core bit and damage to
the machine.
Change the direction of feed immedia-
tely if the core bit stops rotating. If this
is no longer possible (core bit sticking),
switch off the machine immediately
and try to release the core bit by tur-
ning it using an open-end wrench
applied at the flats near the connec-
tion end. On no account should an
attempt be made to run the motor in
the reserve direction, as this could
present a risk of personal injury and
may damage the machine.

5. Sealing ring
6. Water removal hose
Sealing discs of the appropriate dia-
meter are available from your local Hilti
centre or representative.

3. Water hose
4. Water regulation valve
5. Hose connector
6. External water supply
The water supply pressure must not
exceed 6 bar.
After finishing work, drain the water
from the motor unit by disconnecting
the supply hose and opening the
water regulation valve.
