3 .2 Handling the stethoscope

• P utthestethoscopeonyourheadsothattheeartipsarepointinginyour
direction of view. This ensures that the ear tips are put into the ear from the
back to suit the anatomy of the auditory canal.
• Y oucanreducetheinitialtensionofthestethoscopeandthusthepressureon
theauditorycanalbytakingtheheadsetbetweenyourthumbandforefinger
and slowly pulling the limbs apart.
• I ftheinitialtensionisnotenoughtoensurethatthestethoscopeisfirmlylocated
in the ear, you can increase it by taking the headset between your thumb and
forefingerandcarefullypushingthelimbstogether.
• C heckregularlythattheeartipsarefirmlyattachedtotheendsoftheheadset.
NOTE: Switching over stethoscopes which have a double chest piece
• W henusingastethoscopewithadoublechestpiece,youneedtoensure
that you have selected the right side for your intended purpose by turning
the chest piece. Only one side is ever activated for auscultation.
• T heswitchismadebyrotatingthechestpiece180°untilyouhearaclick.
4. HYGIENE TREATMENT
4 .1 Cleaning and caring for stethoscopes
NOTICE! Damage to device
Unsuitable cleaning agents and disinfectants may damage the sensitive
surfaces of the device.
• D onotuseaggressiveorabrasivecleaningagents.
• D onotusewhitespiritorpetroleumspirit.
• O nlyusedisinfectantssuitableforsensitivesurfaces.Suitabledisinfectants
are available from specialist dealers.
• F orcleaning,werecommendadampcottonormicrofiberclothwetted
with disinfectant if appropriate.
• P reventliquidsfrompenetratingthehousing.
• D onotimmersethestethoscopeinliquidsorautoclaveit.
The stethoscope can be cleaned by spraying or wiping with disinfectant.
• S pray disinfecting: spray all parts with the cleaning product/disinfectant and
leave the products to take effect in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions.
If necessary, wipe over with a dry cotton cloth afterwards.
• D isinfecting by wiping: wet the stethoscope or a cloth with the cleaning
product/disinfectant. Then wipe over the surfaces applying a gentle pressure.
• T osupportthesecleaningmethods,pleaseuseonlyclean,softcottoncloths.

6 . DISPOSAL
Thisdeviceconsistsofhigh-qualityrawmaterialswhichcanberecycled.Dispose
of the device in accordance with the local laws and regulations applicable in your
country.
7 . WARRANTY
There is a two-year warranty period from delivery for defects attributable to poor
materials or workmanship. Defects which come under the warranty will be repaired
for the customer free of charge against proof of purchase. Additional claims cannot
be considered. Costs of transport to and from seca are the responsibility of the
customerifthedeviceislocatedsomewhereotherthanthecustomer'sheadquarters.
In the event of transport damage, warranty claims can only be made if the complete
original packaging was used for transport and the device was secured and fastened
therein according to its originally-packed condition. You should therefore keep all
packaging parts.
The warranty will be voided if the device is opened by persons not expressly
authorized by seca to do so.
