The speed of the descent is regulated with one hand on the
handle and the other hand holding the line below the device.
Start with the line at an angle out of the slot. With the
descender upside down, the descent starts by pulling the
handle upwards fig. 7, and stops when moving the handle
downwards or by releasing it. Increase or decrease friction by
moving the line into the narrow part of the slot or away as
shown in fig. 3B. It is important to always keep one hand on
the line below the device to have better control of the descent.

Ensure that the descent is not in conflict with moveable
machinery, obstacles or live cable. The line must not lie over
sharp edges.
10. Once the person is safely on the ground, give necessary
medical assistance and call for help. Detach the rope from the
harness.

S T O R A G E
The Smartline X must not be exposed to chemicals or stored together with chemicals. It shall be protected from strong heat,
UV light, light, high humidity, sharp edges or other influences that can affect the security of the equipment.
6 . 2 .
M A I N T E N A N C E
As the Smartline X is designed for single use only, there is no need for maintenance. If there are concerns about humidity in the
bag or possible damage to the equipment, it must be inspected according to section 4. All reparations or alterations have to be
done by a body approved by the manufacturer.
Warning: If the equipment becomes wet, it is allowed to dry naturally, not by direct heat or UV-light.

T R A N S P O R T
During transport the Smartline X must not be exposed to sharp items, chemicals, UV- light, or other influences that may cause
damage. It must also be protected against falls, crush and shock damages.
6 . 4 .
I N S P E C T I O N O F E Q U I P M E N T
Personal inspection before use is described in section 4.
The Smartline X has to undergo periodic inspection by a competent person at least once every 12 months. This person must be
familiar with inspecting all the components in the set, and must know in detail how the set works.
The set must always be opened during periodic inspection. Repairs and replacement of parts can only be done by CRESTO AB.

durability of the equipment
The equipment log on the last page must be updated with all periodic inspections, service and repairs and other matters concerning
the safe use of the equipment, if the CRESTO INSPECTOR data base is not utilized.
The Smartline X is equipped with a RIFD chip connecting it to the CRESTO INSPECTOR for easy track and trace of units and
service. The RFID is located in the marking label see section 8.

• Aborber: check for deployment, material and stitching for damage including cuts, nicks, abrasion, fraying, discolorations, heat
or chemical damage and moisture.
• Connectors: gate function, abrasion, deformation, corrosion, cracks and nicks.
