Template Made from Shipping Carton
5. Install Remaining Flat Panel
Cut Holes
Remove the remaining flat panel from the shipping carton and set it aside.
Cut a template 30-1/16" (76.4 cm) x 72" (182.9 cm) from the back of the shipping carton.
Mark the template with a pencil to note the side that is facing you.
Place the template against the wall that will have the plumbing fixtures. Ensure the template is flush
against the ledge of the shower base.
Cut holes in the template slightly larger than the diameter of the plumbing outlets. Verify the
accuracy of the cut locations.
With the glossy side of the flat panel facing you, place the flat panel in an open area.
With the marked side of the template facing you, place the template on top of the flat panel.
Trace the cutout holes onto the fixed panel with a pencil.
NOTICE: If a hole saw will be used to cut holes: Select a hole saw with a diameter slightly larger than
the cutout areas. If a coping saw or hand saw will be used to cut holes: Drill a pilot hole at the perimeter
of each hole location before cutting.
Cut the holes in the panel.
Place the flat panel against the wall to check for accuracy of the cut holes.
Secure Flat Panel
CAUTION: Risk of property damage. Select panel adhesive recommended for use with polystyrene
surfaces. This will ensure that the flat panel will properly adhere to the walls to create a watertight
seal.
Place the flat panel down on a drop cloth with the dull finish side facing up.
NOTICE: Do not apply the panel adhesive to the glossy side. The panel adhesive must be applied to the
dull finish side. If the panel adhesive is accidentally applied to the glossy side, do not scrape it off.
Instead, immediately remove the panel adhesive with mineral spirits or paint thinner.
Apply a continuous bead of panel adhesive 1/4" (6 mm) thick at least 1/2" (1.3 cm) in from all four
edges of the fixed panel.
Apply diagonal beads of panel adhesive in an "X" pattern on the fixed panel, as illustrated.
With the dull side facing the wall, place the flat panel on the wall where plumbing fixtures will be
mounted.
