OPERATING AND MAINTENANCE MANUAL

TIG WELDING

This welder, despite being designed for high-quality
MMA welding, also provides excellent results in TIG
mode.
Inert gas arc welding using infusible tungsten
electrodes (often shortened to TIG welding, Tungsten
Inert Gas welding) is a procedure that takes advantage
of the arc produced between a nonconsumable
electrode and the workpiece.
The edges of the workpieces are molted and, if
necessary, using fi ller metals in rod form, fused
together.

3. CONNECTION TO POWER SUPPLY

Before plugging the unit in, check the power supply
voltage, phase and frequency. The permissible voltage
is shown on the unit tamplate.
Ensure the welder is earthed.
Make sure that the plug provided with the unit is
compatible with the local power grid socket.
Make sure that the power supply is suffi cient to operate
the welder. The types of power supply protection
devices to be used are listed in the "Technical
Specifi cation" section of this manual. The power cable
supplied with the welder should not be extended but, if
that becomes necessary, an identical cross-section
cable should be used.
All models require a three-wire cable (positive, negative
and earth) with a minimum cross-section area equal to
2.5 mm2.

4. OUTPUT CONNECTIONS

The welding cables are connected with fast-connec-
tor plugs.

1. Output Current Regulator: Used to regulate the
output current to be used when welding (Fig. 1).

3. Thermal Protection LED: This lights up when
theunit has overheated and the output power has
been cut off.
Usually this occurs when the welder utilization fac-
torhas been exceeded. Check that the air-intake
grills onthe front, back and sides of the welder are
not clogged.
Leave the welder switched on to allow the internal
components to cool down. When the LED goes
off,normal welding operations can be resumed
(Fig. 1).
4. Positive Terminal Fast-Connect Plug: Provi-
des positive output current to the welding circuit
(Fig. 1).
5. Negative Terminal Fast-Connect Plug: Provi-
des negative output current to the welding circuit
(Fig. 1).
6. ON/OFF Switch: Switches the unit on or off
(Fig. 2).

7. Power Supply Cable: This unit is equipped
with its own power supply cable, with plug. Con-
nect it to the local power supply (Fig. 2).
8. Rear Air-Intake Grill (Fig. 2).

6. MMA WELDING INSTRUCTIONS

First and foremost decide which is the correct
polarity for the chosen electrode. (Consult the in-
structions on the electrode packaging).
Then connect the welding cables to the output
terminals as appropriate (Fig. 1 – 4, 5).
Figure 3 shows the connections for welding opera-
tions using positive polarity DC current
Connect the electrode cable to the "+" terminal
and the earth clamp cable to the "-" terminal.
