Sound formats and effects (DSP)

"DSP" stands for "Digital Sound Processing". When playing a disc (DVDs,
CDs, VCDs, MP3- and JPEG CDs) and in AUX mode, you can choose
between various sound formats and effects.
Sound formats
The sound formats available for discs (apart from discs in Dolby Digital
mode, see below) are:
2.1 Stereo: for stereo rendition with a subwoofer connected
Dolby PL II: for media in Dolby Pro Logic format
Stereo: for stereo rendition via the two front speakers
Sound effects
The DSP function of your unit be used to create a number of sound effects
for the rendition of music. The range of styles available (apart from discs in
Dolby Digital mode, see below) is:
"Concert": sound effect of a concert room
"Living": sound effect of a living room
"Hall": sound effect of a hall
"Bathroom": sound effect of a bathroom
"Cave": sound effect of a cave
"Arena": sound effect of an arena
"Church": sound effect of a church
Sound formats for media in Dolby Digital format
Media in Dolby Digital format offer the best possible rendition. With these
media you can choose only between the following sound formats:
Dolby Digital: for rendition with surround loudspeakers
2.1 Stereo: for stereo rendition with a subwoofer connected
Changing sound formats and sound effects
With a disc inserted, press the button SOUND or SOUND FIELD – or +
on the unit. The currently selected sound format or effect appears in the
display.
Press SOUND repeatedly to activate another sound format or effect.
Each time the button is pressed, the next sound formats/effect is
activated.
If a button is not pressed for a few seconds, the display of the sound
format/effect disappears, and the default display is shown again.
