Playing functions

Insert a DVD as described above (see "Insert disc", p. 16) in the disc tray
and close it. In the display and on the screen the message L O A D I N G
appears.
Playing starts automatically. Generally after the licence messages and an
introduction, the DVD menu* is displayed. The name of this menu appears
in the display, and this depends on the DVD, z. B. ROOT *.
Use the navigation buttons to move to the desired option in
the menu and confirm it with PLAY or ENTER.
While playing, the display shows Play mode, the elapsed time and
information about the DVD, e. g.:
PAUSE/STEP (Frozen frame display)
Interrupt playing by pressing PAUSE/STEP . On the screen the Pause
symbol is displayed:
Press PAUSE/STEP repeatedly, to step from frame to frame. On the
screen the symbol for frozen frame display appears:
PLAY
To continue playing, press PLAY/ENTER . On the screen the Play symbol
appears: .
STOP
Press STOP once, to stop playing the DVD. On the screen the Stop
symbol appears . In this mode, playing can be continued from the
same point with PLAY .
Press STOP once more, to stop the DVD permanently. The unit is now
in Stop mode.
Special screen messages
If you choose a function which is not available on the current disc or cannot be called in the
current mode, the adjoining 'invalid attempt' symbol is displayed on the screen. The symbol
disappears after a few seconds.

DVDs usually have one or more
menus with which you can
navigate the DVD. The names
of these menus depend upon
the DVD. They may be called
e. g. "DVD menu", "Disc
menu", "Main menu", "Title
menu" or "Root menu".
The menus on the DVD are
accessed with the TITLE MENU
or DVD MENU buttons (see
"TITLE MENU, DVD MENU",
p. 31).
In contrast to that, the menu on
your DVD player (SETUP menu)
is called up with the SETUP
button.
