The disc does not start up
although PLAY was pressed, or it

If a malfunction occurs, please first check whether you can solve the
problem yourself. The following overview should help you.
Under no circumstances should you attempt to repair the unit
yourself. If a repair is necessary, please contact our Service
Center or another suitable specialist.
POSSIBLE CAUSE / MEASURE
Check the mains connection: Is the plug seated firmly in the socket?
Press POWER on the unit, then STANDBY ON/OFF on the remote
control.
In case the unit has been affected by a thunderstorm, a static charge or
another external factor, try the following procedure:
Press POWER on the unit (Standby mode). Then disconnect and
reconnect the mains cable.
Was the disc inserted with the labelled side upwards?
Check whether the disc is damaged, by replacing it with another disc. If
the disc is dirty, wipe it carefully with a soft dry cloth from the middle
outwards.
Is the inserted disc of an different type to the playable types DVD, VCD or
CD?
DVD: Does the DVD have the correct regional code (2)?
Condensed water has built up; give the unit one to two hours to dry out.
Check that the batteries have not run down, and that they are correctly
inserted. Remove any possible obstacles between the infra-red
transmitter of the remote control and the sensor on the unit.
Are you possibly too far away (more than 7 m/20 feet) from the unit?
Is the cable connection between the DVD player and the television working
correctly?
Is the television switched on?
Have you set the television to the video channel?
Has the correct function (DVD) been selected?
Check whether the DVD is dirty, and if necessary wipe it carefully with a
soft dry cloth from the middle outwards. Slight distortions to the image
are not malfunctions.
The standard of your DVD may not be compatible with that of your
television (PAL – NTSC, S E T U P menu > G E N E R A L S E T U P > T V
T Y P E
).
A video output signal setting has been chosen which the television does
not support ( S E T U P menu > G E N E R A L S E T U P > V I D E O - O U T ).
Check in the S E T U P menu > G E N E R A L S E T U P > T V D I S P L A Y
whether the selected format is suitable for the television set.
Are the cable connections to the loudspeakers working correctly?
Is it possible that Muting ( MUTE ) has been activated?
