O
PERATING MODES
There are four possible operating modes:
ON LINE
INTERRUPTION-FREE MODE: The load is supplied constantly by the CPS inverter (always supplied "AS"
output). In the event of power supply failure the battery provides power to the inverter, ensuring the required
runtime with no interruptions at all). This mode provides maximum protection for the load by making use of "dual
conversion" technology.

ECO MODE

WITH SWITCHING: The load is supplied via the CPS bypass line (always supplied"AS" output). In the event of
power supply failure the internal automatic device transfers the load to the inverter. The battery provides power
to the inverter, ensuring the required runtime.
This mode ensures increased efficiency; however, any interference in the mains power may affect the load. In
the event of mains power failure or power values out of tolerance, the CPS will switch to INTERRUPTION-FREE
MODE. Approximately five minutes after mains power returns within tolerance, the load is switched back to
bypass.
EMERGENCY ONLY
WITH-SWITCHING MODE WITH ADDITIONAL MANOEUVERING DEVICE FOR CENTRAL LOAD
TRANSFER: The load is not supplied when mains power is available. If mains power is interrupted the CPS
cuts in and supplies the load from the inverter using the batteries, and then shuts down once again when mains
power is restored (emergency only "EO" output type)
B
YPASS FOR MAINTENANCE
CAUTION: Maintenance inside the CPS must only be performed by qualified personnel. Inside the
appliance, voltage may be present even when the input, output and battery switches are open. The
removal of any of the panels which seal the CPS by non-qualified personnel may cause injury to the
operator and/or damage to the appliance.
N.B. if several CPS are connected in parallel, follow the procedure set out in the "Bypass for maintenance" paragraph in
the parallel kit manual.
The operations to be carried out in order to perform maintenance on the appliance without interrupting load feeding are
set out below:
The CPS must power the load through the automatic bypass or the inverter, with the mains present.
N.B.: If the CPS is in battery operation mode, activating the bypass for maintenance leads to an interruption to
load feeding.
Close the bypass isolating switch for maintenance (SWMB) located behind the door: in this way the input is
short-circuited with the output.
Open the input (SWIN), output (SWOUT) and bypass (SWBYP) switches, open the battery rack switch/fuse: the
signal panel goes off. Wait until the electrolytic capacitators on the power compartments have discharged
(approximately 15 minutes) and then proceed with the maintenance operations.
N.B.: During this phase, while the load is powered through the maintenance bypass, any disturbance on the
CPS power line would affect the powered appliances (the load is directly connected to the mains. The CPS is
no longer active).
Once maintenance has been completed, perform the following operations in order to restart the CPS:
Close the input, output and bypass isolating switches and the battery rack switch/fuse. The signal panel returns
to being active. Command the CPS to switch back on from the "SYSTEM ON" menu. Wait until the sequence is
complete.
Open the maintenance bypass: the CPS starts to operate normally again.
