Pass the edge under the retainer (T) (Fig. 15) and the retainer rod (V) (Fig. 15)
to the other side of the pressure roller (C1) (Fig. 15).
Attach the reel-holder cover (Q) (Fig. 14), leaving a space of 1 or 2 mm, to
prevent the reel getting trapped in the loader.
Glue loading
Polyolefin glue
Lift the lid (Q) (Fig. 3) and load the tank as described below:
With 250 g. glue, that is to say with 5 units of the dosing bucket, about 150
can be pre-glued meters of edge 22 mm wide. If it is necessary to glue more
quantity of edge, it should be done continuation of the previous one, since an
overheating of the glue will cause it to deteriorate and change to a color more
yellowish, causing an inappropriate finish at the time of cladding.
The POLYOLEFINE glue is specified for the pre-gluing of edges in the PR25VJ
PRE-GLUER and the subsequent cladding of the edge obtained with EB150
EDGEBANDER.
EVA Glue
To use Eva glue, you must first completely empty the PO glue tank and adjust
the glue flow. Adapting it to your need, as indicated in the section (Tail flow
regulation)
Tank emptying
To empty the tank, you must turn on the machine and heat up to 100ºC, at
which point it must be turned off.
With the help of a wooden spatula (never use a metal accessory, it could damage
the inner protection of the tank and the gluing roller), press the sides of the
glue block until it is detached in one piece.
Glue features
Due to its characteristics, the POLYOLEFIN glue offers improved performance
compared to glue. EVA, due to the fact that it achieves a higher adhesion value
with a minimum gluing line.
In turn, the subsequent cladding with POLYOLEFIN glue is necessary to do it
with the appropriate cladding machine, In this case, it has been approved in
the EB150 EDGEBANDER.
Thanks to its properties, the polyolefin PO glue, for a coating of similar strength
to the Eva glue, requires 40% lower grammage.
For example:
For a linear meter of 22 mm high edge pre-glued with PO, between 1.7 and 2
grams is enough for its gluing in planter. On the other hand, with the EVA glue, to
achieve the same plating effort, you need between 2.8 and 3.3 grams per meter.
Edgebanding with EVA glue
It is recommended that the glue be loaded in small amounts in order to reduce
its melting time.
The tank has a capacity for up to 2 kg of glue, but the machine requires 40-60
minutes to melt it; therefore it is recommended that it only be filled completely
when gluing large amounts where the load will be used in one cycle.
Glue that is melted and solidified various time loses a great deal of its proper-
ties. For this reason only a little more than the amount to be consumed in the
cycle should be loaded.
For gluing rigid 2 or 3-mm thick tape, the 3 rods (H1) (Fig. 14) must be attached
to prevent premature unwinding of the reel.
11. ADJUSTING THE PRE-GLUER WHILE TURNED ON
To make the following adjustments, the machine must be
connected to the mains, the switches (A) and (B) (Fig. 3) tur-
ned on and the adjustments explained in the previous section
(Section 10) already made.
Adjusting the temperature
The temperature is adjusted using the regulator (C) (Fig. 3), according to the
guidelines in the following table:
Regulator in Pos. 3
Regulator in Pos. 3.5
Regulator in Pos. 4
Regulator in Pos. 4.5
On starting, set the regulator (C) (Fig. 3) to position 4.5 to speed up the glue
melting process to the maximum. After 7-9 minutes the motor will start to
turn; check the temperature marked on the thermometer (R) (Fig. 3) and adjust
it with regulator (C) to the temperature given by the manufacturer for the

glue being used.
For gluing PVC edges, we recommend working with the lowest possible tem-
perature, especially with thin edges.
For better machine performance, do not start gluing until 10 minutes after the
above temperature adjustment.
Regulating the flow of glue
The amount of glue the machine spreads on the edge is set in the factory-set
for PO glue, and should not be adjusted again on changing the thickness or
width of the edge. In changes to EVA glue to remove the glue supply, you must
act on the rollers (P and O) (Fig. 6) with the aid of rod (N) in the following way:
To increase the amount of glue, turn the measuring roller (O) (Fig. 6) anti-
clockwise to increase the flow rate out of the tank.
If the glue overflows at the opposite side, turn the retaining roller (P) (Fig. 6)
clockwise to open the entry flow.
To reduce the amount of glue, carry out the same process in reverse, i.e. reduce
the flow of the measuring roller (O) (Fig. 6), as well as the retaining roller (P)
(Fig. 6), if necessary.
Rollers (O) and (P) (Fig. 6) should never touch the gluing roller (K) (Fig. 6).
12. OPERATING AND STOPPING THE MACHINE
Preparing the Receiving Reel-holder
First unwind 1.5 or 2 m of the tape from reel P (Fig. 14) to carry out this
preparation.
Once the adjustments mentioned in sections 6, 10 and 11 have been made and
the working temperature reached and maintained for 10 minutes, check that
the gluing roller (K) (Fig. 5) is well impregnated with glue, release the press
assembly by pulling knob (J) (Fig. 5), while holding the press assembly (I) with
the other hand, so that it does not accidentally knock the gluing roller (K) (Fig.
5) on lifting automatically to the working position, and start gluing.
When the unwound section has been glued, stop the process without stopping
the machine, by moving the press assembly (I) (Fig. 7) down until it locks.
When the glued edge has cooled down, take it out backwards and place it once
again below the rod (V) (Fig. 5) between the pivots (N) (Fig. 14 and 15) and
through the tape-pulling cartridge (J1) (Fig. 15).
Stick the end of the glued edge (W) (Fig. 15) to the reel-centring device (M)
(Fig. 15) with a piece of adhesive paper, attach the reel-holder cover (O) (Fig.
14) 1 or 2 mm from the edge, and hold it in place with the knob (L) (Fig. 14).
Wind the glued tape until its end matches up with the gluing roller K (Fig.
5). The process can now be restarted by pulling knob J (Fig. 5) to release the
press assembly, while holding it with the other hand to prevent it knocking
the gluing roller K (Fig. 5).
Manual Winding
Before starting to wind the glued tape again using lever (Z) (Fig. 14), let the
pulling cartridge (J1) (Fig. 15) drop to 10 cm above the floor, so that the glue
on the tape can cool down.
Adjust the winding speed throughout the process so that the pulling cartridge
stays at this distance from the floor.
If the lever (Z) (Fig. 14) does not provide sufficient resistance to unwinding, it
can be increased by turn the wheel (X) (Fig. 14) clockwise.
Monitoring the Gluing Process
If during the operation drips can be seen from the end of the gluing roller
(K) (Fig. 5) these can be eliminated using a wooden spatula. Never use metal
parts to do this.
If the pressure roller (G) (Fig. 5) becomes dirtied with glue for whatever reason, the
machine must be stopped and the glue left to cool before cleaning with a cloth.
The pressure roller (G) (Fig. 5) can be removed for cleaning more easily by
releasing the knobs (F) (Fig. 5) that hold it in place.
Stopping the Machine
On finishing the job, just turn off the switch (B) (Fig. 3) that controls the ele-
ments. The motor switch (A) (Fig. 3) must be kept on to prevent glue dripping
between rollers during the glue cooling process. The machine itself will stop
the motor automatically when the temperature has dropped to below the
dripping temperature (135° C approx.). At this point the switch (A) (Fig. 3)
may be turned off.
During the cooling time, move the press assembly (I) (Fig. 7) down until it is
locked into its lower position.
If there is a power cut or you need to stop the machine due to an emergency
by turning off the switch (A) (Fig. 3), a piece of cardboard should be placed
between the rollers to prevent glue dripping onto the pressure roller (G) (Fig.
7) while cooling.
Gluing Strips or Pieces
To glue strips or pieces with a thickness over 3 mm, the retaining rod (V) (Fig.
