This sec on describes how to charge the internal ba ery in the Gallagher HR3 Hand Held
EID Tag Reader and how to operate the HR3 Reader when the internal ba ery is fl at.
Note: The recommended ambient temperature limits for charging are 10° to 45° Celsius. If
the temperature of the reader goes above 45°, the word "TEMP" will replace the ba ery
icon on the screen and the reader will not charge.
Charging using the 15 V ba ery charger
To charge the HR3 Reader internal ba ery using the 15 V ba ery charger, use the following
steps:
1. Plug the Data and power cable into the cable connector on the Reader.
2. Plug the 15 V ba ery charger to the Data and power cable DB9 connector using the 2.5
mm Coaxial plug.
3. Plug the 15 V ba ery charger into power socket and switch on.
4. Make sure the ba ery icon is showing that charging is occurring. See Ba ery icon status -
Charging (p 16).
Notes:
• While powered from the 15 V ba ery charger, Electronic ID tags cannot be read.
• Maximum charge me of a fl at ba ery is four hours.
