PREPARATION FOR USE
N.B.: Only previously tested apparatuses shall be used. Before use it is mandatory to perform the following checks.
6.1 Connecting cylinder (s) – only for RC
Put the cylinder in the special seat and secure it. Connect the cylinder valve to the pressure reducer through the high
pressure tube. Tighten the connector as appropriate.
6.2 Connecting demand valve (quick connectors operation)
Snap the medium pressure demand valve and reducer tubes together. Connector is securely locked.
N.B.: To disconnect apply a slight axial force whilst sliding back the female connector bush. Do not disconnect when the
hose is under pressure! Press button (17) to avoid air leaks when donning the set.
6.3 Checking the positioning of hoses
The medium pressure hose of the demand valve shall be connected to the tip of the feeding hose and this to the
supporting belt. N.B.: Do not operate unless the feeding tube is correctly hung to the waist belt!
6.4 Checking cylinder pressure ‐ only for RC
Lock demand valve by pushing button (17). Open cylinder valve; the pressure gauge should read not less than 280 bar
for 300 bar cylinder.
6.5 Checking the high pressure section tightness
Open and close the cylinder valve. The pressure read on the gauge shall not drop by more than 20 bar within one minute.
6.6 Checking the audible warning
Open cylinder valve and pressurise the set.
Shut cylinder valve.
Release the valve locker (17) by pushing rubber button (4).
With the palm of your hand, keep the demand valve outlet shut and vent the air off slowly.
At pressure reading of approx. 55±5 bar for the reducer mounted on the little trolley and 35±5 bar for the others,
release the air quickly. A sounding vibration shall then be heard which will end when the air has been completely
vented off.
N.B.: It is advisable to vent the air off very slowly and wait few seconds at 55/35 bar.
Re‐lock button (17)
Note: When doing this check it is recommended to connect the demand valve directly to the second operator
attachment (25) on the reducer. This eliminates the dead volume due to the length of the hose which may give
misleading test results.

USE
7.1 Donning the set
- Wear the supporting strap around the waist and lock the hose into the special hook.
- Don the mask and check the face seal tightness (see relevant instructions).
- Open hand wheel valve(s) by at least two turns.
- Connect the Demand valve to the mask; the first breath‐in releases button (17) and sets the positive pressure in the
mask cavity (about 3.5 mbar).
N.B.: The connection to the mask of the demand valve shall be made and checked by an assistant.
THE APPARATUS IS NOW READY FOR USE.
7.2 During Use
If the apparatus is provided by an RB reducer, when in use check from time to time the pressure gauge and plan the
work load to suit the air left in the cylinder(s). Be aware that at 55±5 bar (or 35±5 bar) the audible warning will sound
at every inhalation. At this point the user should leave the contaminated area. If in strenuous conditions more air is
required, you may press the Rubber Button (4). With 2x6 l cylinder the airline can last for some 20 minutes after the
warning has started. With a 50 l cylinder the alarm time will be approx 50 min.
7.3 Replacing a cylinder
The system is designed to enable changing a cylinder, for the trolley with EN 144 connections, when the apparatus is in use.
To do that:
Close the cylinder valve
Vent the air off by opening the relief valve at the end of the high pressure connecting tube (29)
Disconnect the connector by hand or as appropriate
Replace the cylinder
7.4 After Use
Close the cylinder(s) valve(s)
Doff the mask. Excess air will be vented off
Press button (17) to lock valve and have it ready for next use.
