Description
: The Suspension Trauma Relief System (STRS) is a
system designed to be installed on an existing full body harness
to provide relief from suspension trauma until rescue can be
implemented.
Training
: It is the responsibility of the employer to provide
training to any employee who may be exposed to fall hazards.
Training will enable an employee to recognize fall hazards and
methods to reduce such hazards. Training must be done by a
Competent or Qualified Person. Trainer and trainee must not be
exposed to fall hazards during the course of this training.
Rescue
: This system provides suspension relief and is not a
rescue alternative. The user is required to have a project
specific rescue plan and the means at hand to promptly
implement it.

Attach To Harness
: Locate where the right side front and back torso straps intersect at the hip. Unsnap the inner snap. Pass the
STRS web loop behind the back torso strap, front to back. See Figure 1.
Insert the STRS pack through its own web loop and pull snug to create a web choke attachment. See Figure 2. Pass the ends of the
snap strap behind the torso strap, and snap together. Repeat on the left side. The pack is securely fastened to the harness.
Operation:
Step 1 – If a fall event occurs, locate both STRS packs, left and right. Insert thumbs through the red grab rings and pull both rings
forward to deploy the straps inside the pack. Ensure the full length of each strap is deployed. See Figures 3 and 4.
Step 2 – The right side contains the snap hook and adjustment buckle. Attach the snap hook to the left side ring. See Figure 5.
Step 3 – Step into the web sling formed by the connected straps. Pull the end of the right side strap to adjust and relieve pressure of
the harness leg straps. See Figure 6.
Important: This FallTech STRS is a temporary stress relief system; rescue must be prompt. Do not adjust any harness buckles while
using the STRS.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE
#5040 Suspension Trauma Relief System
Inspection:
During normal inspection, include this relief
system; external pockets, choking loops, snap connectors and
deployment loops.
Remove the system from service if inspection reveals an unsafe
condition.
Warning
: While using this system after a fall event, remain
vertical. Do not attempt to recline or lie down. Refer to ANSI
Z359.4‐2007 for additional information on recognizing and
responding to suspension trauma.
Identify
: This FallTech STRS is composed of two webbing
pockets, marked Left Side and Right Side. Ensure both pockets are
present. Take notice of the form and function. Each pack consists
of a pocket with an attachment loop, an inner snapped strap, and
a yellow pull tab with a red thumb grab ring, secured with a hook
and loop flap.
