open Circuit Breaker
In addition to attentively observing the procedures described in this manual, users must
obey the following instructions:
Always work with the equipment de-energized, even if they are test, maintenance or
repair procedures;
Use interlocking and safety devices, and check if they are operating naturally, without
the need of being forced or suppressed.
HAZArD!
Only qualified professionals with training and experience in electrical
circuits may undertake the tasks described in this manual. These persons
must also understand the risks involved in the tasks and undertake them
only after reading the entire content of this manual.
Correct operation of the ABW circuit breakers depends on appropriate
handling and correct installation, operation and maintenance. Neglecting
the fundamental requirements of installation and maintenance may result
in injury to the user and/or damage to the equipment and the installation.
The ABW circuit breakers have characteristics developed to prevent
undue operation. However, such characteristics do not eliminate in
and of themselves any and all risks. Therefore, the user is responsible
for recognizing the potential risks, for using individual and collective
protective equipment, and for taking adequate safety measures.
Do not perform any adjustment or operate the equipment if the safety
devices are not present.
Before proceeding with visual inspection, test or maintenance on this
equipment, disconnect all power supply circuits. Consider all circuits
as energized until all of them are really de-energized, tested, grounded
and identified. Special attention must be given to the electrical system
where the equipment is installed, since there may be reverse supply.
Before installing lids or closing the panel doors, inspect the area of the
bus bars to check that no tools or other objects will left in contact with
them. Also check that there are no parts of lids or closures of the panel
in contact or very near to the bus bars.
Before making any electrical connection, make sure that the circuits are
de-energized and grounded.
Introducing foreign objects into the equipment may cause a short circuit,
and this results in irreparable damage, injuries or death. Short circuits
release a large quantity of energy that results in the rapid expansion of
superheated and ionized gases. Consequently, burns may occur even
before preventive actions can be taken. People and objects may also
be thrown various meters away from the equipment.
Such foreign objects may be tools, current probes, instruments,
wires, cables or other objects, whether conductors or not. It is also
recommended to keep cloths and any other materials far from the
equipment.
