Operating test

Operating test for 40SMC---N
• Perform the operating test after the units have been installed in
position and the gas leak test has been completed.
• Check all electrical connections (instructions and wiring diagram).
• Insert the batteries into the remote control and leave it OFF.
• Energise the system, turning the power supply ON.
• Press the
and
buttons of the infrared remote control and
hold them pressed for more than 5 seconds. The display will be
cleared, the time segments will display the icon (Src = service test).
FOR SYSTEMS 1:1
The system emits an acoustic signal to reply to the message
sending.
The 3 LEDs of the kit start blinking every 2 seconds and the
indoor fan works according to the configuration set by the user.
If this configuration is set on the Auto mode, the fan works at a
high speed.
In case the unit is of the cool only type, the test will restart it in
the cool.
If the unit is of the heat pump type, the system starts in the cool
mode just for the first 3 minutes, then works in the heat mode
for the 2 following minutes or until the coil temperature is higher
than 40°C, and finally goes back to the cool mode until the test
has been completed.
FOR T-KIT or MULTISPLIT SYSTEMS
If just one single indoor unit has received the test start request,
the test will be started immediately while the other units are
switched off.
While one unit carries out the test, the second unit receives the
test start message; the test can be started only after the first
unit has completed its own test.
The green and red LEDs blink every 2 seconds while the yellow
LED blinks every 0.5 seconds (0.5 seconds ON and 0.5 seconds
OFF) according to the table below:
5
-

-
3

2
-
After switching on and off for a while, the yellow LED remains
OFF for 5 seconds before repeating the same sequence.
During the test, the unit works 3 minutes in the cool mode, then
2 minutes in the heat mode and finally goes back to the cool
mode until the test has been completed.
If during the heat mode the coil temperature is higher than
40°C, the test will switch to the cool mode until it has been
completed.
During the test, the indoor fan works at high speed and the
outdoor fan changes its speed every 30 seconds from high to
low, while the electric heaters are off.
The test could stop for the following reasons:
• If the
ON/OFF button is pressed.
• If power supply is out. Once power supply has been
restored, the unit continues to work in the mode which was
active before the power supply interruption (but not in the
test mode).
• 30 minutes after receiving the last test start message.
• If the indoor coil temperature is higher than 60°C.
Once the test has been completed, the unit continues to work in
the mode set before the test start.
Note:
When 30 minutes have elapsed and no buttons have been
pressed, the remote control will automatically exit the test menu
and resume its normal operation.

During the cool mode and heat mode check the following
conditions:
1. Difference between indoor ambient temperature and indoor unit
air discharge temperature must be greater than 3°C.
2. Indoor fan must operate at low speed.
