CAUTION!
Damage to the machine due to incorrect
sharpening!
Uneven cutting teeth mean that the chain
runs roughly and may even break!
All cutting teeth must have the same
length and width after sharpening.
DANGER!
Danger of fatal injury due to kickback!
A saw chain that is not sharpened cor-
rectly can lead to extremely serious inju-
ries!
Sharpen the saw correctly.
Cleaning the interior of the chain sprocket
Thoroughly clean the chain saw after each use.
1. Disconnect the chain saw from the mains and
place it on a stable base.
2. Unscrew the sprocket cover.
3. Clean the inside with a suitable brush.
4. Remove the saw chain and take out the chain
bar.
5. Clean the groove in the bar and the oil inlet
hole.
Chain bar
Turn over the chain bar after each chain sharpe-
ning and chain change, in order to avoid one-si-
ded wear.
In the EKI 2200/40 and EKS 2400/40
models, it is necessary to change over
the quick-tension chain wheel on the
chain bar before turning. See Changing
over the quick-tension chain wheel.
Regularly check the guide rail for damage. Re-
move any projecting burrs (16).
1. Carefully clean groove in bar (16/1) and oil in-
let hole (16/2).
2. Carefully clean lubricating hole (17/1) from
both sides.
3. Use a suitable grease gun to pump in suffici-
ent grease from both sides in succession until
the grease emerges evenly at the tips of the
sprocket. Keep turning the sprocket when do-
ing this.

STORAGE

Thoroughly clean the chain saw after each use.
Store it in a dry, lockable place out of the reach
of children.
Carry out the following jobs before intervals in
work lasting for longer than 30 days:
1. Switch off the machine and disconnect the
mains plug.
2. Unscrew the oil tank cap.
3. Empty the oil tank.
4. Fill with some engine oil.
5. Run the chain saw with this for a short time in
order to flush the oil lines and oil pump.
6. Remove the saw chain and guide rail, clean it
and spray it with rust-proofing oil.
7. Thoroughly clean the chain saw and store it
in a dry place.
WORKING BEHAVIOUR AND WORKING
TECHNIQUE
Courses in the use of chain saws and
techniques for felling trees are regularly
held by various forestry organisations.
DANGER!
Danger of injury due to inadequate tech-
nical knowledge!
Inadequate technical knowledge can re-
sult in serious and even fatal injuries!
Only trained and experienced people are
allowed to fell trees and lop branches.
DANGER!
Danger of fatal injury from splintered
wood!
Wood chips caught up in the chain can
lead to extremely serious and even fatal
