4. Place the new thermostat in the lower
thermostat housing.

5. Position the upper thermostat housing A
(PN 3860555) on the lower thermostat housing.
6. Lightly tighten bolts B (PN 969189) and C
(PN 3860163) to temporarily secure the
thermostat housing to the intake manifold.
NOTE!

7. Using a 3/4 in. (19mm) wrench, reattach the
temperature sender fitting D saved in Step 3 of
the section entitled "Thermostat Housing
Removal." Tighten to 18-26 ft. lbs. (25-35 Nm).
NOTE!

The housing must be loose enough to re-
align as necessary. You will complete the
tightening process at the end of this sec-
tion.
When tightening the temperature sender
fitting, be sure to use sealant compound
(PN 1141570) on the threads.
