Open locking lever 2 and mount protection guard 8
on the spindle collar as shown.
Adapt the position of the protection guard 8 to how
the machine is being held.
The closed side of the protection guard 8 must
always point to the operator.
The locking lever 2 must be engaged and protection
guard 8 firmly seated.
Shut the locking lever 2. The protection guard 8 must
be tightly seated.
If the protection guard is not seated tightly enough
when the locking lever 2 is shut, increase the tension-
ing force of the locking lever 2. For this, tighten the
screw 17 with the locking lever 2 open.
Only use application tools
that have a minimum clear-
ance of 3.4 mm to the edge
of the protection guard.
Auxiliary Handle
For all work with the machine, the auxiliary
handle must be mounted.
Screw the auxiliary handle 7 on the right or left of the
machine head depending on the working method.

Clean the grinder spindle and all parts to be
mounted. For clamping and loosening the grinding
tools, lock the grinder spindle 3 with the spindle lock
button 1.
Actuate the spindle lock button 1 only when the
grinder spindle is at a standstill!
Grinding/Cutting Disc (see figure
Pay attention to the dimensions of the grinding
disc. The mounting hole diameter must fit the
mounting flange 12 without play. Do not use
reducers or adapters.
The mounting flange 12 must be firmly mounted.
When using a diamond cutting disc, take care that
the direction-of-rotation arrow on the diamond cut-
ting disc and the direction of rotation of the machine
(direction-of-rotation arrow on the machine head)
agree. For mounting, see the illustration page.
Lock the spindle. Mount clamping nut 15/ 14 and
tighten it with the two-pin spanner in clockwise
direction.
Thin grinding discs
Thick grinding discs
After mounting the grinding tool and before
switching on, check that the grinding tool is cor-
rectly mounted and that it can turn freely.
SWS 26-230-T:
The mounting flange 12 is attached firmly to the
spindle. As usual with other angle grinders, a remo-
vable support flange is not required.
The supporting surfaces of the mounting flange 12,
the grinding disc and the clamping nut 15/ 14 must
be clean. Clean, if required.
Mount the grinding disc on the mounting flange 12.
The grinding disc must face uniformly on the moun-
ting flange 12.
Quick-clamping Nut
Use the quick-clamping nut exclusively for
grinding accessories within a clamping range
less than 8 mm.
For tightening or releasing the quick-clamping
nut, the grinder spindle must be locked.
EWS 24-180-S, EWS 24-230-S:
Tightening the quick-clamping nut
