3. Install the Piping
To determine the necessary pipe cutting, temporarily assemble the
flush pipe, elbow, washer, nut and discharge pipe. Pass the end of
this assembly through the bottom hole in the wall-mount box and
loosely secure it to the backflow preventer.
Carefully measure, cut and de-burr the non-threaded ends of the
flush pipe and discharge pipe. Accurate measurement and cutting
is necessary to prevent any strain on the connections.
Apply thread sealant to the male ends of the threaded pipes.
Screw the flush pipe into the backflow preventer. Screw the
discharge pipe into the elbow. Slide the nut and washer up the
flush pipe, if not already assembled. Insert the flush pipe into the
elbow and tighten the nut.
