Epicomed
Intended purpose
Epicomed is an elbow compression bandage
with pads.
Indications
For all indications which require soft tissue
compression of the elbow with contoured
pads, such as:
• Lateral epicondylitis or medial
epicondylitis
• Osteoarthritis and arthritis
Contraindications
None known at present.
Risks / Side Effects
If the aids are too tight, this can cause local
pressure sores or constriction of blood
vessels or nerves. Therefore you should
consult the doctor treating you before you
use it if the following circumstances apply to
you:
• Condition or injury of the skin in the area
of application, particularly with infectious
indications (excessive heat, swelling or
reddening)
• Paraesthesia and circulatory disorders (e.g.
as seen in diabetes, varicose veins)
• Lymph drainage disorders – equally,
swelling of soft tissue adjacent to the area
of application which is not related to a
condition
When wearing snug-fitting aids, this can
result in localised skin inflammation or
irritation that is due to mechanical irritation
of the skin (particularly in conjunction with
sweating) or due to the composition of the
material.

Intended patient groups
Healthcare professionals should provide
care to the adults and children, applying the
available information on the measurements/
sizes and necessary functions/indications
and in line with the information provided by
the manufacturer, and acting under their
own responsibility.
Note on wearing
Supports cause the greatest effect during
physical exercise. In principal, the support
can be worn all day. However, this depends
on how comfortable the support is to wear.
You should avoid bending your arm tight for
a long period. The support should be taken
off for longer breaks (e.g. when sleeping).
The support is also suitable for use in water.
After use, please rinse out the product
thoroughly.
Putting on/Taking off
• To make putting Epicomed on easier, fold
down the upper fastening edge.
• Pull the bandage over the elbow so that
the crease of the elbow sits in the middle
of the knitted comfort zone and the seam
on the back side runs over the middle of
the elbow bone at the back of the arm.
Then roll the upper part of the bandage
back up. (Fig. 1-3)
• The position of the bandage is correct
when the inner and outer bone
(epicondyles) can be felt in the gaps in the
silicone inserts. (Figs. 4 + 5)
• The strap enables the pressure to be
regulated for each individual, depending
on what their body requires (tightening,
loosening). If required, the strap can also
easily be removed whilst the device is
being worn. (Fig. 6)
