the handpiece tip assembly to the vacuum fluid collection canister
connected to the facility vacuum source.
E
Irrigation Tubing/Power Cord Combination – The irrigation tubing
provides a fluid pathway from the irrigation bag to the handpiece tip
assembly. The power cord conducts electrical energy from the battery
power pack to the handpiece.
F
Trigger – An activated trigger provides irrigation to the surgical/wound
site.
G
Tip Locking Mechanism – The mechanism is used to engage and

To Assemble the Handpiece
WARNINGS:
• For wound care applications performed outside the sterile field where the
handpiece is used on a single patient repeatedly, ALWAYS disinfect the
D
handpiece, and replace the tip assembly and suction tubing before each use.
See the Cleaning section and the instructions for use supplied with the Wound
Care Tubing Replacement Sets.
• DO NOT reuse the handpiece for surgical applications or applications
requiring a sterile field. See the instructions for use supplied with the Wound
Care Tubing Replacement Sets.
• ALWAYS use aseptic technique when handling the sterile handpiece, tip
assembly, and irrigation tubing.
• ALWAYS use aseptic technique when removing the irrigation tube spike cap.
Failure to comply may cause the irrigation tube spike to become contaminated
before insertion into the irrigation bag.
• DO NOT allow fluid from the irrigation bag to drip onto a battery power pack.
Failure to comply may cause electrical shock.
• DO NOT submerge the battery power pack into liquid or irrigation solution.
• DO NOT use a rechargeable power pack that gives off an odor, generates
heat, becomes discolored, or leaks.
NOTES:
• Make sure a standard IV pole is equipped with an irrigation bag and a fully
charged InterPulse Rechargeable Power Pack, if a power pack is required.
• For optimal performance and maximum run time, use rechargeable power
packs that have been charged within 48 hours.
• Make sure the top of the fluid contained in the irrigation bag is less than 36
inches above the handpiece at all times after connecting the handpiece.
1. If using a handpiece with a rechargeable power pack, install the handpiece
