Rear Door Outside Handle Replacement
1. Plug in the window switch and raise the window.
2. Remove the 2 - rubber grommets to access the handle bolts (3).
3. Use the appropriate tool, open the rear side door handle rod clip
(1) on the latch.
NOTE: The clip for the outside door handle rod is designed for
one use only, a new clip must be installed to the door latch to
retain the outside handle rod.
NOTE: Use the appropriate tool to push in on the retaining
tabs located on each side of the old clip to remove.
4. Remove the old outside door handle rod clip (1) from the door
latch .
5. Remove the door lock key cylinder rod from the handle.
6. Remove the rear side door outside handle bolts (3).
7. Remove the rear side door outside handle from the door (4).
8. Remove the door lock blank cylinder from the handle.

9. Transfer the outside door handle release rod to the new handle
10. Transfer the rear side door outside handle blank cylinder to the
new handle.
11. Install the outside door handle to the door.
12. Install the outside door handle bolts, tighten to 6 N·m (53 lb in).
NOTE: When replacing the old design outside door handle rod
clip in step 4 of this removal procedure with the new design
clip (1) the anti-rotation tab (2) will need to be removed.
13. Install the new outside door handle rod clip (1) to the latch.
14. Install the outside door handle rod to the clip (1) on the latch.
NOTE: When installing the outside door handle rod to latch
in order to prevent outside handle lever pre-load, the outside
handle shall be fully secured to the door prior to securing
integral latch clip to outside handle release rod. Push upward
at the bottom the rod clip.
15. Close the outside door handle rod clip.

handles upon completion of installation.
NOTE : Verify proper operation of door handles; prior to re-
installing trim:
a. Lock the door using key cylinder or power lock, verify
that the outside handle will not release door latch.
b. Unlock the door using key cylinder or power lock, verify
that the outside handle will release door latch.
c. Install the rubber grommet, trim pad, electrical, inside
release handle cable, trim pad.
d. Lock and unlock the door using inside lock-rod, verifying
the lock-rod doesn't bind.
e. Verify the inside door handle will release the door latch.
