f)
Remain seated quietly for 2 minutes before you
begin the measurement.
Comment:
If it is not possible to fit the cuff to the left arm, it can also
be placed on the right one. However all measurements
should be made using the same arm

5.4. Setting the inflation pressure

Program the inflation pressure to be approximately 40 mmHg higher than your estimated systolic blood
pressure. You can choose between 8 initial values: 140, 160, 180, 200, 220, 240, 260 and 280 mmHg. If
you do not know your systolic blood pressure, select a value between 160 and 200. The instrument is pre-
set to 140 mmHg. If this initial value is sufficient for you, omit the following step and start immediately
with the measurement.
Set the initial pressure as follows:
a) Switch on the instrument by pressing the O/I button.
This picture appears on the LCD display. (It remains
there as long as you hold the button pressed down).
b) After the button is released, the display flashes as
shown and the instrument beeps. This indicates that
the instrument is automatically adjusting itself to
the pressure of the surroundings.
c) After this equalization is completed, zero is displayed.
Finally a beep is emitted to indicate that the instru-
ment is ready to take measurements.
d) On pressing the SET button the instrument displays
the pre-set initial pressure for approx. 3 seconds.
e) In order to set the initial pressure individually, press
the SET button briefly for each level until the required
initial pressure is reached. Each button press raises
the initial pressure by 20 mmHg. After reaching
280 mmHg the display starts again at 120 mmHg.
f)
After the SET button has been released, the instru-
ment is set to the displayed value and the setting up
procedure is complete. As long as the batteries are
not removed, the value is stored in the instrument
even after it has been switched off.
Comment:
If the initial pressure selected was too low it will be corrected automatically during the measurement by
additional inflation. This results in a slightly longer measuring procedure which the patient may find
uncomfortable. The result of the measurement is normally not affected.
