GENERAL FAULTS

WARNING
When attempting to identify and remedy any fault or failure, ensure it is only attempted by qualified personnel and that the safety and maintenance
sections of this manual have been read and are fully understood and followed. Major overhauls should only be carried out by a qualified Ingersoll Rand
representative. Failures caused by fitting parts not recommended by Ingersoll Rand or non–authorized Ingersoll Rand personnel may not be covered
by the terms of any warranty agreement

12.0 FAULT FINDING

FAULT
No power supply to package or loose
connection
connection
Emergency stop switch has been pressed Reset switch.
Both high and low evaporator temperature
lights energized
Defective transformer
Defective compressor contactor (1M)
1OL compressor overload tripped
High refrigerant temperature
High refrigerant pressure switch (1RPS)
tripped
Intellisys controller failure
REMEDY
EQUIPMENT!
Check supply is switched on.
Check for correct voltage at contactor and power terminals.
Sensor in evaporator (2AT) well is open/short circuited – replace
sensor.
Check voltage to primary side of transformer – no voltage at primary,
check wiring.
Check for 115 volts at secondary side of transformer – no voltage at
secondary, replace transformer.
Check for 115 volts at contactor coil – replace if contacts are open.
Check trip set point. Reset overload.
Dryer is over charged, or has not been charged with refrigerant as a
liquid.
Fan is not operating properly
Local ambient temperature, inlet temperature, or air load too high.
Confirm dryer size for application.
Remove power and check 1RTS high temperature switch for
continuity below 87_C (189_F) sensor temperature – replace if open.
Check 2RTS superheat switch for attachment/function.
Refrigerant leak.
Fan is not operating properly.
Allow unit to cool (this may take 2–4 hours) and try to restart.
Local ambient temperature, inlet temperature, or air load too high.
Confirm dryer size for application.
Dryer package filters are dirty – replace filter element(s).
Condenser coil is dirty – clean coil.
Remove power and check 1RPS high pressure switch for continuity
below 23 barg (335 psig) – replace if open.
Dryer is over charged, or has not been charged with refrigerant as a
liquid.
Fan is not operating properly.
Check fuses 1 FU, 2FU & 3FU and power supply to controller –
replace controller if 115 volts is present at J1–1 and J1–2 and no
controller lights function.
