The distance from the top of the cooktop to the bottom of cabinets above can be
reduced to 24" (610mm) when the bottom of the wood or metal cabinet is protected
by not less than 1/4" (6.35mm) thick flame retardant millboard covered with not less
than no. 28 MSG sheet steel, 1/64" (0.4 mm) thick stainless steel, 1/36" (0.6 mm)
aluminum or 1/36" (0.6 mm) thick copper.
