Remove the sill trim, right side.

Move the lid of the glove compartment to the service position.

Loosen the floor covering in the footwell on the driver's side and fold it back.

Lower the relay and fuse holder behind the dash panel (Chapter "Relay and fuse holder behind the dash panel,
removal and installation", observe the following note).
Note:
The relay and fuse holder behind the dash panel must only be lowered to connect the wiring, not completely removed.
For this reason, it is not necessary to remove the dash panel.

1.3 Install the swivelling badge with reversing camera -R189- and swivel motor

Remove the activation for the tailgate without reversing camera.

Cut the vehicle wiring harness just in front of the plug connector -1- arrow.
Remove approximately 30 mm of the harness protective tape.
Strip both individual wires (violet/blue and brown).
1.4 Connect and position the wiring harness

Install the swivelling badge with reversing camera and swivel motor -6- supplied. If not already present in the
vehicle, retrofit a water drain hose -1-.

Clip the plug-in foot -4- into the hole adjacent to the wiper motor (see also Page 3, Fig. 3, -1-).
Push the coupling holder -5- into the plug-in foot -4- and engage.
Note:
The coupling holder -5- and plug-in foot -4- are only engaged on the inner panel of the tailgate in the Golf. For the
Golf Variant and Golf Sportsvan, there is a coupling holder -arrow- for the plug connection on the swivelling badge
with reversing camera and swivel motor -6-.
Connect the plug -2- for the antenna to the coupling -3- of the wiring harness supplied.
Engage the plug connection -2-/-3- in the coupling holder -5-.
Connect the wiring harness to the swivelling badge with reversing camera and swivel motor.

Crimp the stripped violet/blue individual wire -4- to the violet/blue individual wire -6- of the wiring harness -2- in the
crimp connector -5- supplied.
Repeat the step for the stripped brown individual wires.
Heat-shrink the crimp connector to seal it, using the hot air blower in the -VAS 1978- wiring harness repair kit.
