by the corrugated pipe -3- installed.
Page 4 - Figure 1
Route the black/blue wire -4b- of the wiring harness to the coupling point -6- in the tailgate.
In front of the coupling point -6- unwind approximately 50 mm of the harness protective tape on the vehicle's own
wiring harness.
Cut the black/blue wire (coupling point pin 5) on the vehicle approximately 30 mm in front of the coupling point -6-.
Crimp one end of the black/blue wire -1- in a crimp connector -2-.
Crimp the free end of the black/blue wire -3- together with the black/blue single wire -4a- of the wiring harness in
the crimp connector -2-.
Heat-shrink the crimp connector -2- to seal it, using the hot air blower in the -VAS 1978- wiring harness repair set.
Replace the harness protective tape on the vehicle's own wiring harness.
Attach the black/blue wire -4b- to the vehicle's wires using the cable ties supplied -arrows-.
Use the cleaning and pull-in aid -VAS6620-to pull the wiring harness through the right sleeve -5- in the tailgate.

Note
The brown single wire -2- on the wiring harness must be stripped along such a length that the stripped section is able
to pass through the complete crimp connector -3- . This is the only way that a firm contact and fixing of the wire ends
-1- and -4- can be guaranteed.
Cut the brown wire on the vehicle approximately 30 mm in front of the chamber D17 and strip both wire ends.
Crimp the wire end -1- of the brown wire together with the brown single wire -2- of the wiring harness in the crimp
connector -3-.
Crimp the wire end -4- of the brown wire in the crimp connector -3-.
Heat-shrink the crimp connector -3- to seal it, using the hot air blower in the -VAS 1978- wiring harness repair set.
Engage the white individual wire of the wiring harness in chamber B6 of the connecting plug of the information
electronics control unit.
Engage the black individual wire of the wiring harness in chamber B12 of the connecting plug.
Continue to route the wiring harness to the relay and fuse holder and, using the cable ties supplied, attach to the
wires or brackets on the vehicle.
Page 5 - Figure 1
Pull the coloured locking device -1- sideways out of the relay and fuse holder behind the dash panel.
