2-7 Mechanical Installation

2-8 Preferred Mounting Position

2-4
Recommended installation procedures:
a. The single ended SFP units are mounted as self-supporting devices
with the process connection providing the support.
b. The flow-through SFP units are designed to become an integral part of
the piping system. As a result, the following precautions should be
taken when designing the installation.
-
The instrument should never be used to support any weight of
the piping system.
-
The pipe design should be such as to minimize any pipe stress
being transmitted to the instrument.
-
An ideal installation should utilize the mounting holes (located
below the process connection of a flow-through unit) to attach the
pressure transmitter to a rigid surface for additional support.
c. Leave sufficient room for access to the electrical connection and for
easy access to the zero adjustment port.
d. Design the installation in a manner that allows the instrument to be
easily removed.
e. Mount unit in an orientation s described in Section 2-8.
The Brooks SFP will function properly in any orientation. There are
preferred mounting orientations that will reduce the impact any entrained
gas or liquid will have on the pressure measurement accuracy.
Model SFP32 Mounting Orientation
The Model SFP32 is designed as a single or "dead ended" pressure
transmitter. In liquid service, care should be taken to mount the unit so that
any entrained gas bubbles do not fill the process connection.
